Anyone thought of building a third down receiver? Something similar to a 3rd down HB in the NFL (see: Kevin Faulk).

Since sticky hands works best on pressure situations and you can focus on a WR, would it work?

You can't choose which WRs are on for each down so your WR may only end up being on the field for 1st and 2nd down on a running play.

I'd rather build an every down WR.

I've always wondered what exactly distinguishes guys like Kevin Faulk and Wes Welker from everybody else. It just seems like those guys are the types that you can get the ball to on a 2 yard pop, and no matter where they are on the field, they'll find the first down marker and get there.

Viscount is right, if there was a way to control which WRs were on the field in certain situations this could be a good idea... but since you can't you're probably just going to end up with a really sure-handed WR who gets tackled immediately because he doesn't have the speed/agility to get away from defenders and create big plays.

There is nothing wrong with building a possession receiver. On one of my teams there is a guy catching 92% of his TARGETS this season! Yes, 92% of his TARGETS! Ya, he doesn't make many glamor plays, but he moves the chains.

My only problem with building a possession receiver is the only SA that really seems geared toward possession WRs is sticky hands, the rest are more like a circus catch WR. But if you've got a guy catching 92% of the balls thrown his way then maybe there is value in a possession WR.

Link to player please? Or will you make me sift through all those teams to find out that possibly valuable info?

I wasn't saying he shouldn't build a possession WR, I have possession WRs. I just meant that you can't build a WR specifically for 3rd downs.

Also, how about a WR catching 100% of his targets, even if he only has 22 catches this season:

Sorry, your dude is only at 88%. He's had 25 targets, three pass deflections and twenty two catches.

It'd be nice if you could choose packages

As it stands, the only way you'd be able to get it to work would be to make him your #2 and have great WRs at #1 and #3

That or you could mess with energy settings at WR2 and make him play ST so that the "backup" WR2 actually gets more plays. Then force starters on clutch situations.

If your going through and checking short gain WR, feel free to add up my agility guys plays. Was shocked to see a basic nowhere near incompletion in tonights game , only 2nd or 3rd for the season .

As a suggestion, for those of you struggling to get possession guys racking up receptions, they work at WR#1 quite well if your short of options.

EDIT: I make it 78 receptions, 13PD, 4 incompletions and 3 drops for the season. It isn't quite 90% but it'll do for now.
