Here's what happens. My WR will be smothering a WR and then the WR will make a cut and my guy will just start running in mini-circles, basically in one spot bobbing back and forth as the WR catches the ball behind him before he has to chase him down from behind.

I assume this is either the pump fake or the head fake, right? Well, how do you stop that? Are there any counter measures because it's annoying as all hell to watch it happen. My guy will literally be dazed for a second and a half before he decides to get back into the action.

Anyone have a counter to this?

this thread is worthless without links

Just flying blind, to stop the fakes, vision and agility are key. If you are just getting out cut, Change Direction and/or more agility hold the key. Again, tough to tell without links.

I don't see why links would be required. I've described what happens to a "T", provided my build and it's obviously a "fake" problem. Either my guy is getting pumpfaked or headfaked. If you're saying agility and vision hold the key then my guy already has high agility and vision. I can dig up some links though.

I guess he's looking for the replays.

Ya, replays

If your guy is going off in one direction for a bit towards lala land, he got faked. If he's kinda going into orbit, he can't cut fast enough enough.

I'm not sure which of those "bobbing back and forth" represents. If that's BEFORE the pass (but after the cut) he could be reading the QB and trying to get an early jump on the play and might not be undesirable.

Again, without seeing a replay it's tough to completely evaluate.

If it is a head fake then more agility. Take it to at least the second cap. Then start working on First step and change direction. Also you need to start working on strength, tackling, catching, and confidence. With confidence that low once you get beat a couple times you will get beat nearly every time.

I even spent time in your CB gamelogs but coulndt find a play like you described. Hes a PR/KR guys obviously...of 4 tackles I have found all were on pitches. So please provide a replay from you description...its something you ought to to at least while you are seeking councel!

However, so far I am tempted to say its lack of agility. Your speed/agility ratio is very close to 2:1, while most CB at your level tend to have a 1.2:1 ratio ... max. Maybe you just stumble over your on feet while you try to break for the route/WR?

Again...it would help to see a replay.

I'm thinking this is the Pump Fake working. Both CB's on that side freeze. If it wasn't for the over-throw, that guy would have been gone.

What's the cure here? VISION?

Vision and supervision fight pump fake. Last season I noticed my lvl 35 cb getting beat from pump fakes, so I pushed my SV to level 8 and I don't think I've been beaten on a pump fake since.

You don't have high enough agility for all that speed you have. I recommend CBs have 1:1 speed/agility ratio just for this reason.

93 speed is a MASSIVE waste - in fact, it's so overkill that it's probably making your coverage a lot worse. Get equipment switched over to Agility until you're at 1:1 or down to ~80 speed, whichever happens first. Part of the reason you might be running in circles is lacking the agility to turn tightly with that speed.

SA wise, continue dumping every point you get into the 2 trees. The first 2 points in First Step and Change Direction (especially CD) are cheap and a big help, so get them with your next level. Then pump Super Vision til it's a natural 10. Use your training to try and get Strength, Tackling and Confidence up, as they're all too low.

That time frame also corresponds with Bort partially nerfing pump fake. I'm not saying you wasted the points, but it's probably a combination of the two factors. SV 8 CBs were definitely getting pump faked last season.

LoL you got a 90+ Speed Cornerback and he has no Change Direction? All that speed without ability to {{ Change Direction}} Quickly is of no use other than to go in a straight line...

Just because you don't have the SA doesn't mean you can't do that thing. Sure, having the Change Direction SA will probably help make turns, but he's not going to be limited to going in a straight line just because he doesn't have points in a certain SA.

Not that more agility and/or points in SAs would necessarily be a bad thing, but your logic doesn't quite make sense.
