Here's my rankings that I've quickly thrown together. Hope you enjoy
1 (1) Woodridge Lumberjacks (8-2)
Easily disposed of the Monarchs to up their winning streak to 7. The defense is looking scary right now and the team only gave up one TD this week (coming from a returned turnover) - they've now given up one TD or less 7 times this season. Richmond up next...
2 (2) Paris Philarmonic (8-2)
The Paris bandwagon rolls on and now we find out if they really have what it takes to challenge for the Alpha crown when they face fellow title hopefuls Wembley Warriors.
3 (3) Wembley Warriors (7-3)
Keeping faith in the rushing attack after a lacklustre 1st half as well as a 2nd half defensive masterclass allowed Wembley to move to 7-3 on the season. They now prepare for next week's game of the week against Paris Philarmonic.
4 (7) Toledo Swords (6-4)
Toledo continues to pleasantly surprise and they move up 3 places in my rankings for this week. The impressive one-two combination of their two running backs, Big Rod and Breizh Manu, gave them the W against Chicago Rocks this week. They host Berlin next week, who will be smarting from their shock loss to Carthage - a victory would be welcomed I'm sure, as they have a tricky schedule as we head towards the end of the season.
5 (5) London Monarchs (6-4)
Inconsistency returned for the Monarchs and they were simply unable to move the ball against the Lumberjacks. They should probably make the playoffs but they won't be going far with performances like this. They keep their position simply because Woodridge are red hot right now and Berlin's loss was far more unexpected.
6 (4) Berlin Blitzkrieg (6-4)
The first real chink in the armour of Berlin. Their previous 3 losses had been close ones to teams with a combined record of 21-9. They were completly outplayed this week by a Carthage outfit that was brutal on both sides of the ball. They should still make the playoffs with relative ease.
7 (6) Chicago Rocks (5-5)
I may have jinxed Chicago when I said they were my sleeper team last week, but their loss was against a team in good form right now in Toledo - they'll be disappointed that their offense was kept in check for the whole game though, being limited to 3 FG's. They have a chance to bounce back against Stuttgart next week.
8 (10) E-City Mercenaries (6-4)
The Mercs move up 2 spots this week thanks to losses for LWCD and Valhalla, coupled with a nice victory over Blackpool to get their season back on track.
9 (8) Lake Charles Who Dats (5-5)
The Who Dats started brightly against Wembley this week, holding a 10-0 lead at the half while moving the ball well on offense and stifling Wembley's usually potent run game. The 2nd half was a completely different story as LCWD were shut out and the floodgates opened as they gave up 24 straight points. They should beat Carthage next week, but that's exactly what I would have said about Berlin...
10 (12) Fightin' Texas Aggies (5-5)
It seems the Aggies might have heard me last week when I said they had been disappointing this season, as they crushed the Valhalla Vikings 41-17.
11 (11) Aberdeen Wrecking Crew (5-5)
After heading out to a 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter against Paris, AWC never recovered from giving up 16 points in the 2nd quarter. Jimmy Johnston continues his march towards the title of Defensive MVP, but it's still not enough for the Wrecking Crew to be anything more than 5-5 right now.
12 (9) Valhalla Vikings (5-5)
The Vikings are seemingly in freefall. After a less than impressive victory over Blackpool last week, they were soundly beaten by an FTA team who had been disappointing prior to their matchup. They could easily go 0-4 in their next four games if they're not careful and we may even unbelievably see the Vikings fail to make the playoffs.
13 (14) Carthage Army of Darkness (3-7)
**Shock Of The Week** Well, I don't think anyone would have predicted Carthage getting one over Berlin. An inspired performance from running back, "Lil" Danny Hernandez (36 att-160.5 yds) and a stingy defense, limiting Berlin to 121 total yards, gave Carthage a comfortable victory.
14 (13) Stuttgart Nighthawks (5-5)
Stuttgart drops a place this week, despite victory over Richmond moving them to .500. Next they face Chicago Rocks.
15 (15) Blackpool Mountain Lions (0-10)
Blackpool looked like they had been improving this season but they were put to the sword by the Mercs this week. 12 yards from 22 rushes is rarely going to help the cause.
16 (16) Richmond Renegades (0-10)
Yes the Renegades lost again and yes they had over 100 points put past them again, but their first 2 TD offensive performance of the season gives them some sort of moral victory.
