Is this something new or was this in last season. this is the first time I've noticed it. I know scrambling was tweaked a little, is this a part of it?

It's been around since last season at least. I saw my QB do it some late last season when facing lots of pressure. This one was from the first round of the playoffs last season:

In fact if the coverage is really good and the circumstances are dire enough they sometimes will just tuck it and run like this (same game, late in the 4th quarter, 4th and 12, down by 7):

Nope, I've never set it to anything other than almost never. Those plays happen more when your OTs are out matched by their DEs and can push them back, so I'd say not seeing them happen much is a good thing.

i agree. my line has held ok. but it would still be cool to have him run for a 1st down or so

My QB is pretty slow, I've been training nothing but speed/agility ever since the end of last season (when the plays in those replays occurred in a playoff loss) but it is coming along slowly. Thankfully so far this season pressure hasn't been as big an issue so I haven't had to do a lot of stepping up or scrambling yet.
