you need both. maybe slightly more agility than speed.

Either that, or you should compare last year to this year and fiure out why you are no longer having success....

Either can work to the extreme.

but speed > agility because you can do more than just get sacks.

Think about it.

If there was a legitimate DE coming out of college who had 4.2 speed off the edge, would he be the first overall pick?

In a heart beat.

With a pretty decent chance he would be a washout 3 seasons later...

Actually, I don't think it was stupid at all...though I do think that it serves to make a point beyond what was likely intended.

I went out on a limb to call it stupid but a 4.2 DE would likely have no pass rushing capabilities if their was an offensive tackle in front of him.

How's that phenom tight end doing that came out about three years ago and looked like he was cut from stone. I forgot all about him until this thread.

Vernon Davis. That guy looked unreal playing for Maryland.

Oh, to get back on target, I think either way works. Although I'd say agility is more useful to more things than speed is, as your rip/swim and lateral movement seems to be based off of agility. Although it can be argued speed is in a category it's own.

Either way, get both to 60+ if you're going for a speed rushing DE.
