Eastern Conference Predictions
We are now over the half-way mark of the season and things are progressing pretty well. That is, they are progressing well for those with a winning record. Everyone else is either throwing up their arms in frustration with another year below .500 or scrambling to recruit, update their AI settings and pray to the GLB Sim Gods that something will finally go their way. Seriously though, I hope everyone is having some fun... regardless of their team situation.
Atlanta SEC All Stars (6-2) at Ten Yard Fight! (8-0)
After a hard fought battle with the Tampa Bay Krakens, the Fight are once again up against a very tough opponent. The parity in the eastern conference is quite evident when looking at the records. There are now three teams at 6-2, two teams at 7-1 and only one team unbeaten at 8-0. We have played many close games and it will undoubtedly be a very tough playoff for all the teams participating, with no clear dominant team like the days of Tecmo and Bearphins. Atlanta brings a solid offensive team but has some holes on their defensive line and line backing core. This should be another close game.
*Prediction Excluded
New Jersey Blaze (7-1) at New Orleans Night Trippers (2-6)
New Jersey brings the fire into New Orleans this week. It will be hard for the Night Trippers to stop the potent Jersey offense. New Orleans has been around the BBB#12 for some time now but is still having some struggles. I do see some improvement and with some player moves they could take it up a notch quickly. The Blaze are to much for the Trippers to handle at this point.
Blaze 79 - Trippers 17
Tecmo All Stars (1-7) at Ottawa Outbreak (7-1)
A pandemic Outbreak is spreading quickly. Ottawa was able to cage the Pigeons last week and will be riding high into Tecmo Bowl. There isn't much to say good about Tecmo anymore, since their "breakup" and relegation from the big boy league. Look for the Outbreak to pad their stats in this one, a well deserved reprieve from the tough game last week.
Tecmo 3 - Outbreak 115
Tampa Bay Krakens (6-2) at Bonita Beef Supreme (4-4)
The Krakens are poised for great things this season. The Beef Supreme have showed their merit in taking down the Vulcans. This should be a great game and is my choice for game of the week. BBS is a solid team and will look to test the Krakens down to the last few minutes. I predict this will be a close game with Tampa Bay coming out on top.
Krakens 27 - Supreme 20
Philadelphia Pigeons (6-2) at New Jersey Hitmen (3-5)
The Pigeons will come into New Jersey Municipal Stadium with a chip on their shoulder. Their tough loss to the Outbreak fresh on their minds they will look to take out their aggressions on the Hitmen. The Hitmen have had some success but the top tier is a bit much for them at this point in their franchise. Look for the Pigeons to assert their winged dominance in this one.
Pigeons 45 - Hitmen 15
Sheffield Sabres (1-7) at Buffalo Chips (5-3)
The Chips have done really well this season and are looking for a seat at the playoff table. To get there from the bubble it is imperative that you beat teams that are rebuilding. I believe Buffalo can and will accomplish this, barring any major AI "flukes". BC quarterback Daedalus Finch is now third in total passing yard in the conference. Look for him to finally add some touchdown passes and bring his statistics up in this one.
Sabres 6 - Chips 49
Saint Paul Vulcans (4-4) at Texas Wrecking Crew (2-6)
The Vulcans come into Texas Stadium after losing two straight; the last being a heart-breaking three point loss to the Beef Supreme. The Texas Wrecking Crew has a surprisingly solid roster, who this author believes could be a pretty great team, but has under-achieved. Look for the Vulcans, who have their AI pretty much in order, to put one on the Crew. This is a early must-win for the Vulcans to stay near the top of the playoff bubble.
Vulcans 42 - Crew 17
Seward City Cats (0-8) at FC Hezbollah (2-6)
Who's turn is it to beat up on the Cats? Hezbollah. Ok, I have to admit I hate that name. I always sigh at terrorists sponsor names of teams filled with Abduls and Mohameds but even I can see past my hatred for aspects of that culture when one team is better than another. The record doesn't show much of a difference but a glance at their respective team pages does. Hezbollah jihad all over the Cats. Poor kitties.
Cats 6 - Hezbollah 35
Best of luck to everyone in this week's games.
Thanks,
Chris
