Again, I think everyone really over estimates USMC. They played 6 easy games to start the season. Since then, they've lost 3 in a row and people still think they're good for some reason.

The spreadsheet had some 1000+ point games the first week. When you play a teams that's much better or much worse than all the other teams you've played, the spreadsheet has to extrapolate, which leads to the huge scores.

MAtta do you think it might be more accurate if you threw out the top 2 scores after the lopsided games were played and replaced them with the average scores against the other teams to that point. I know it's not exact science but do you think maybe the predictions would be a little closer to the truth.

I love how each week my team's "projected" record drops despite winning the game fairly easily.

Well, it wouldn't matter. If you truncate the data set available to the forecast then attempt to extrapolate, you're effectively extrapolating even further and more susceptible to error.

I think the only way to get around it is to assume some sort of complex function instead of a linear extrapolation. Something like an function with a fractional power. But, that's still just guessing. Whenever I have to make assumptions, I try to go with the easiest assumption possible. More complex = harder to justify.
