Okay, I know I missed week 8...Unfortunately, we had a football game here in Lincoln this weekend, and I work overnights at a hotel, so it was a crazy night...I didn't have time to breathe, let alone do a write-up...With that, here's week 9:
(8) Red Bank Thundercats (8-0) vs. State of Texas Domination (0-8)
There's really nothing that can be written about this game...The only question is whether or not Red Bank can hang 300 on the grease spot that is Texas...Red Bank 285-Texas 0
(7) Lincoln Freedom Warriors (6-2) vs. Frostburg Bobcats (4-4)
The good news for Frostburg is that they're at .500...The bad news is their next 3 games are against Lincoln, Appalachian, and Syracuse...Lincoln survived a close game in week 8 against Jax Beach...However, Lincoln has Frostburg's number at every position...Lincoln 100-Frostburg 7
(6) Houston Armageddon (3-5) vs. Clemson Gamecock Kickers (1-7)
Houston has had a real rough go of it this season...They have only played 2 of the bottom 5 in the first 8 weeks of the season...The good news is, that they play the other 3 in the next 3 weeks...That tour de force starts this week against Clemson...Houston 48-Clemson 17
(5) Deimon Devil Bats (1-7) vs. Richmond Empire (1-7)
How do you predict a game between 2 of the worst teams in the conference? Simple...You look at the common opponents...Richmond is overall better except at kicking, where it's a toss up...Richmond wins the Clay Aiken Classic...Richmond 35-Deimon 24
(4) River City Ransom (5-3) vs. Alamo City Soujahs (2-6)
River City has won the games they're supposed to, and aside from a surprise against Lincoln, has lost the games they're supposed to...Alamo City is hoping a change in latitude leads to a change in attitude on his team...Unfortunately, they're not quite ready for prime time yet...River City 42-Alamo City 21
(3) Baltimore Hustle (3-5) vs. Cleveland Buckeyes (5-3)
Baltimore has surprised this writer by getting a 2 game win streak going...The problem is, those two wins were against Alamo City and Texas...Cleveland surprised me by really taking the fight to Syracuse and walking out with the W...No surprises this week though...Cleveland 56-Baltimore 21
(2) Syracuse Samurai (6-2) vs. Jax Beach Juggernauts (4-4)
Jax Beach almost pulled off a shocker against Lincoln in week 8...Syracuse was on the receiving end of a shocker against Cleveland...Two teams coming off of tough losses makes a good matchup...Syracuse is a tough team, and their owner constantly reaches out to other owners for help...While Jax Beach almost pulled out an upset against my own team, I have to give the lean to the New Yorkers in this one...Syracuse 31-Jax Beach 24
(1) GAME OF THE WEEK: Appalachian Lycans (7-1) vs. Louisville Baby Kittens (8-0)
Wow...The granddaddy of them all hits in week 9...Two of the top teams every year get ready to crack skulls...Louisville's high flying aerial attack against a stout Appalachian pass defense should make for a titanic struggle...Louisville has taken advantage of weak competition early in the season...However, like Frostburg, they have a tough 3 game stretch coming up against Appalachian, Lincoln, and Syracuse...None of these teams can be overlooked, and it will be interesting to see how it unfolds...Appalachian has two easy games coming up, with Deimon and Richmond...They can focus more on this game...I'm picking the Lycans for the slight upset...Appalachian 42-Louisville 39
Hope you all enjoy it...I know I'm going to enjoy Appalachian-Louisville
