I am personally staying away from this SA with my new kickers.
I have a level 24 kicker who is 5/7 from 20+ and 5/7 from 40+ (including 50+).

My automatic is 6 and I've soft capped strength, vision, confidence, and have 80+ kicking.

I figure I've spent about 12 SP's on this SA. I wish I could have them back.
If I could reinvest them into something else, I'm sure I'd be just as good from close range, if not better.
I mean, what distance should I be automatic from with those numbers that I mentioned?
One of the misses was actually from 20.5 yards.

Does anyone else agree?

What benefit am I actually getting from that SA?

With a lot of SAs, it's hard to gauge whether or not they're working or how effective they are. Just because you have automatic, doesn't guarantee 100% accuracy within a certain range. In its description, it says "At very high levels accuracy becomes nearly 100%."

Even the best of kickers has a bad day, or what have you, and shanks even a short kick. Even if you have Automatic at 11, or higher with advanced equipment, doesn't mean 100%. It might mean 99.9%, but there still that 1 in 1000 chance every time you kick that you're going to miss. That might not come up for most, but that chance for it to happen is still there.

Just because you don't think its working doesn't mean it necessarily isn't working.

I hear you.

But basically, my point is that I think I'd be much better off putting those 12 SP's somewhere else (like +6 strength or vision) and that I don't think I'd be doing any worse if I didn't have any Automatic SA's.

Would I actually be 4/7 from 20+? If I have really high stats in all appropriate categories, shouldn't my close range accuracy already be at nearly 100% without the help of an SA?

I'd rather increase the chances of hitting long field goals and nailing touchbacks instead of giving myself a 5% better chance of not missing one from 20 yards out.

I was just wondering if anyone else has had a similar revelation.

That's BS.

With a build like that, he shouldn't shank more than one XP per season, if any.
It's a good thing you have 11 Automatic SA's.
Thanks for confirming my point.

Too much realism makes it unrealistic.

Huh?

It doesn't make any sort of logical sense, but yes, I think Automatic is valuable. You'd think that if you're able to increase your reliable FG range dramatically, that you'd also make the short kicks, but this is an online game and Bort decided to make it so you need to work on another SA to make the "short" PATs.
It's like he separated "long kicks" and "short kicks" into two different types of kicks and being good at long kicks has absolutely no bearing on how good you are at short kicks, lol.
But who knows? Maybe this is a problem that real life kickers deal with. Maybe it's a legitimate mental problem, and there's something about shorter kicks that makes them harder.

Personally this season i'm having trouble w/ FG's

my auto is at 9 and i'm perfect this season so far on PAT's
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=94706

what i cant understand is why i'm missing FG's below 40 yards this season, when last season i didnt miss one below 42 yards

If you took those SP's invested in auto, do you think you'd be doing worse or better?

My guess is that you'd be having a better season since you'd probably have about 20 SP's to put somewhere useful.

That's the point of this thread and why I will not spend any more SP's on this SA.

idk man, its really just up in the air, of the 4 FG's i've missed, 2 of them have been from 49 yards, the other 2 could just be from an unlucky flip of the coin

considering i've only kicked 14 FG's its really hard to tell if they were fluke misses or not... but 40/40 for PAT's, that's as consistent as you can get

I read that you had to have Agility at 25 in order to trigger the Automatic SA.

It is in here. I also read - in another thread that had these stats - that it perhaps was just a rumour started by the higher level players. Make of it what you want?
