Edit: Yes, the Easter Conference, not to be confused with the Eastern Conference, which actually exists. Damn Easter not tripping the spell checker...
Just something to encourage more discussion, here's my take on the game 6 match ups in the East.
First come the obvious games. Not much to talk about here:
Reno vs Bronx Black Flag - Reno
Yancy Street vs Washington - Yancy Street
Teikoku vs Orlando - Orlando
Bayou Bandits vs Thundertown - Bayou
Port Moody vs Cleveland - Cleveland
Now for some games that could be more competitive:
Maryland vs Battle Creek - Maryland should get up an early lead behind their rushing attack. After that don't be surprised if their defense creates a turnover or two that puts the game away before the middle of the 4th quarter
Hartford vs Rochester - Both teams are on the playoff bubble in terms of talent and the winner will likely be one of the top contenders for the last playoff seed. Rochester appears to be have an advantage in terms of personnel and based off of performance this season but Hartford claims they were pretty much coasting through their last 3 games and that they are about to turn it on for real. Still, I think a lack of depth on offense for Hartford will be the deciding factor if Rochester can get 3 TDs or more. I just don't have faith in multiple CPU players helping you score a lot, even if they are backups.
And my "Game of the Week"
Huntsville vs Florida - Florida finally gets their chance to start earning their #1 ranking, their next 5 games are going to either make or break their season. Huntsville is looking to knock some more rust off after starting the season with a disappointing loss in a thrilling game against an Orlando club that was still without an owner. Look for the Rockets offensive line and rushing attack to make a statement against Florida's untested defensive line. Florida's first 3 games barely counted as contests and their last 2 opponents ran the ball on them a combined 33 times in 8 quarters. Huntsville could very well run the ball 33 times before the end of the 3rd quarter, something Florida's defense has not had to contend with all season.
Huntsville's linemen aren't the guys you want to face if you are still trying to look for any holes in your rush defense either, there isn't a better blocking team to be found anywhere in the conference. They put up 35 pancakes in their loss to Orlando and 41 against Rochester (they have 956 total after 5 games, but the other 3 games and their 850+ combined pancakes means nothing other than Huntsville's players showed up). Games are won and lost by the linemen and the Rockets should have this in the bag on both sides of the ball.
