Since DT SA's blow, what does everyone think of Tunnel Vision for a DT? It helps agility and speed.

I decided just to make a DE and build him to play the DT position

With borts new system advanced equipment doesn't do much imo. +3 TV at level 32, +4 TV at level 48 isn't much... Only way I could see it being a good idea is if you got 2 peices both on TV, which wouldn't be easy...

you have 10 DT's and zero sacks this year between all of them. How can you say they work?

I'm gonna try and get two pieces of tunnel vision gear on my DT I think and see what happens.

I have one, I am curious as to how hard it will be to get another one.

Not sure, I just know that a lot of the DEs on this forum comment that they didn't start seeing a difference until they got up to 6 in TV. So I figure that if I get two pieces then I can get to 6 by level 32.

It depends on what you want from your DTs. I don't try for sacks with mine, though I do get hurries.

Here is my team, check the rushing yards allowed.

Now check the TFLs from my DTs and NTs, and you'll see why the rushing yards allowed are as they are. They would have a lot more tackles if teams hadn't stopped trying to run against us

Here is what DT SAs look like in action:

I personally think trying to get sacks from your DTs is a mistake, though it does look good on the stat line. I think they are better suited to stopping the run, and facilitating sacks from the DEs. But I can also see different defensive philosophies having equal or better success, so each to their own...

I think a good DT can do both stop the run and pass rush. I am not knocking you for being against a pass rushing DT, I am just saying it can be done with success without affecting the teams efficiency with stopping the running game.

None of what you showed me indicates an SA working for a DT, my DT will do the same as your example.

You point is reasonable, the DT SAs in action don't really look spectacularly different from normal DT play...they merely help you perform the same basic fundamentals more efficiently.

My point is that those fundamental actions (shedding blocks and pushing aside blockers) are exactly what I want my DTs to do...and so I find the DT SAs to be helpful in that regard.

I hope that my DTs will be more effective pass rushers eventually (they actually get some pressure, but only hurries, and often times they are chasing the QB out of the pocket but don't register a hurry for it...and sometimes that gives a sack to someone else).

All that aside, speaking to your original point- I suspect that TV would indeed be strong for a DT, I just got argumentative when you disregarded the existing SAs

No problem man, I would be happy to know that SA's worked, just havent seen evidence that they are worth their price, or that they offer anything more than what my DT is doing already.

Good luck with your DT's and your teams.

Monster Hit would fall into the same category for a DT?

Seems nice and all, but it will take seasons to make the equipment effective. According to Bort, the 1-5 SA lvls do very little compared to the 5-10 lvls.

Which makes extra equipment outside of your own tree fairly ineffective, until you have a couple pieces of up upgraded pretty far...
