1) Tulsa Teamsters (last week #1)
Tulsa and Fremont are both fighting tooth and nail for the top spot in the rankings. After an underwhelming opening schedule, Fremont won the biggest game of the year to date, beating the Island Shaka Brah's by a FG. However, Tulsa seems a bit stronger; their 42-3 win over Walla Walla is still extremely impressive, and they take care of the midlevel opponents better (47-3 against Hobbs Gerbil Wranglers).
2) Fremont Warriors (last week #3)
Fremont is inches from the top spot. If they beat French Lick in the **Game of the Week**, they won't stay at #2.
3) Island Shaka Brah's (last week #2)
A close loss against the #2 team doesn't warrant dropping them any further. They've got a superior resume relative to the other 1-loss teams.
4) Walla Walla Wackers (last week #4)
Walla Walla took care of business against Las Vegas, and won't have much competition for the next few weeks.
5) LaCrosse River Rats (last week #5)
LaCrosse crushed the Shockers, as was expected. They'll get a stiffer test next week, when they face an equally-rated Hobbs Gerbil Wranglers.
6) French Lick Liquors (last week #6)
French Lick has been biding its time and doing penance for its opening loss to LaCrosse. It is poised to make a move; whether the move will be up or down depends on its showing against #2 Fremont in the **Game of the Week**
7) South Georgia Growl(last week #7)
South Georgia won yet another game but in less than impressive fashion, downing the 1-4 Lone Star Leopards by only 7 points. Maybe they were looking ahead and saving their energy for this week's matchup with the Island Shaka Brah's? Let's hope so - they'll need all the help they can get.
8) Washington Blitz (last week #10)
Washington is in the middle of the easiest stretch of their schedule. They just took down the Smash Mouth Silverbacks in impressive fashion, and they now face a disappointed and overmatched Rhode Island team. They will face Walla Walla the following week and will need their A game to keep it close.
9) Las Vegas Villians (last week #9)
The Villians are difficult to place because they've only played 2 types of games: devastating losses to better teams and demolishing victories over lesser teams. Their next four games are all against other mid-level teams and we will find out whether they are a playoff team soon.
10) Hobbs Gerbil Wranglers (last week #8)
Nothing unexpected for Hobbs, as they got crushed by #1 Tulsa last week. They remain in #10 only due to their head-to-head victory over Lone Star earlier in the season.
11) Lone Star Leopards (last week #11)
Lone Star has had a tough run of games and things don't get any easier. They face Tulsa and LaCrosse in the next two weeks and could be completely out of the playoff hunt by mid-season due to their schedule.
12) Tulsa Doom (last week #12)
Forgive me for putting a 3-2 team at #12 but I'm just not a believer. How can you pat a team on the back for being lucky enough to face all 3 teams without a win in their first 5 games? Expect a blowout loss to Walla Walla next week before their first revealing game of the season against the Chicago Shockers.
13) Chicago Shockers (last week #13)
Chicago remains the most respectable of the winless teams, this week putting up 6 points against a VERY strong LaCrosse squad. Not much, but more than the teams below could probably muster. Their next two games (Villians and Doom) are winnable.
14) Rhode Island Revolutionaries (last week #14)
Rhode Island let me down against Tulsa. They'll get a chance to avenge themselves, at least in my eyes, when they play a rebuilding and improving Starkville in 2 weeks.
15) Starkville Cows(last week #15)
The Cows are rebuilding and look a LOT better than they used to. Unfortunately it was hard to see that, as they ran into a French Lick buzzsaw. They may start sneaking up this list very soon.
16) Smash Mouth Silverbacks (last week #16)
Now that Starkville is 1 starter away from being all human, Smash Mouth's mostly-CPU team is a lock for #16 until they actually start trying.
