Here is something to base your Rankings on, each team in league standings order, their first 5 games results and their Game 16 Zeta match up.

This is based on current performance, not who I think will be the best by the end of the season.

1 Berlin - Currently the top dawg.

2 Mercs - An ugly loss to Lake Charles drops these guys on my list, but this team has already put that behind them. Would be 3 but they beat wembley, still have a decent bit to prove this season.

3 Wembley - I had hoped these guys would stop being good after season one. They are back, sadly.

4 Vikings - worst 4-1 team in alpha tbh. Poor results from a cake schedule, not to mention a blowout loss to Berlin. More question marks should be raised here than with the woo jax. In fact, you might as well just mess around when playing these guys, they haven't a chance of winning. By all means, just dump in your NT in at QB, swap your DBs and OL, and your backup C and RB. It's safe, I swear =P

5 Monarchs - Mike Rogers, tell me how to beat Berlin kthx.

6 Faggies - As with every season, I look forward to this game. Something of a rivalry methinks. On second thought, given how we are playing, I don't look forward to it...

7 Woo Jax - Woo Jax? 7? no way... Some serious issues here, but then again, they are the kind of team that could turn this into running the table. I'd be very surprised to see Morbo's boys here in another 2 games, much less by the end of the season.

8 AWC - This team could go anywhere this season, as usual.

9 LCWD - less than impressive since opening the season with a big win. Hopefully the Who Dats can pull things together again.

10 Nighthawks - Perhaps a comeback? This team has given a good number of others a run for their money in all of their losses. I still remember telling myself "Oh, shit, its the nighthawk's d again" before going into a game.

11 Paris Philharmonic - not too impressed with these newcomers yet.

12 Chicago Rocks - the Lake Charles win would have been more impressive in another season, but not this one. Particularly not after dropping one to Paris.

13 Toledo - Probably the best 1-4 team anywhere. I'd credit a lot of this with a very tough schedule (that they have done fairly well in) and would not be surprised to see a .500 end for this lot.

14 Carthage - I don't expect a playoff berth for this bunch, but there is still a lot of season left for these people to turn their game around.

15 Blackpool - Best of luck in AAA

16 Richmond - Best of luck in AAA

Not going strictly by record, and not going strictly by where I expect each team to end up, as usual I'll just make stuff up as I go along

Favorites
1. Berlin - Coming off two convincing wins that let us forget about the week 1 loss to Monarchs. For now they stay at the top, but will have to prove where they really belong against Wembley and Woodridge

2. Wembley - I know we beat them, but still I think they are the team to beat if that makes any sense. Highest level average in Alpha and just two losses since mid of last season have to rank them amongst the favorites

3. Woodridge - Their current record does not quite reflect this high ranking, however I have a hard time putting teams ahead of them that have yet to figure out how to beat the Lumberjacks

Contenders
4. London - The return of Mike Rogers sees the Monarchs back in contention, week 12/13 against E-City and Valhalla will determine whether a home playoff game is a possibility

5. Valhalla - Have lost badly to the only top team they have faced so far and only one of their wins was truly convincing. Is this the year their level disadvantage will finally catch up to them?

6. E-City - A surprise win nonwhithstanding their level disadvantage might come back to haunt them, however an easy Zeta matchup and the Alpha bottom dwellers still to come should see them back in the playoffs after a two season absence. Seems though as if the offseason moves paid off


7. LCWD - Early wins against London and E-City should see them higher up, but bad losses to Berlin and especially Chicago don't really allow for it. Should be in the playoff fight until the end though

On the bubble
8. AWC - Last second win against London gives them hope, however conceding those two late TDs opens questions about their defense. At least they should be able to string two wins together for a change as Richmond has to face them next

9. FTA - They need to address the hole that was exploited by every opponent so far in wins and losses, if they can't they should be lower, if they do they might still contend for the top spot

10. Toledo - A tough schedule so far, but then which team can't claim that? They will probably end up closer to .500, but might struggle to make the playoffs

11. Nighthawks - Not really sure what to make of them, they have beaten last seasons newcomers but other than that not much to show for yet. They stay down here until they have proven that they can beat a contender

12. Paris Philharmonic - Win against Chicago gives them hope, but they have a brutal 6 game stretch coming up that will likely determine their fate

13. Chicago Rocks - A win against Lake Charles and a close loss to Berlin look impressive, a loss to Paris less so. Need to become more consistent to have a shot at the playoffs, normally I'd have them a bit higher, but the loss to Paris prevents it

Out of contention
14. Carthage - Only one win and one close loss so far, AOD struggle in their second season. Must be all that travel time coming over from Africa for the away games.

Better prepare for AAA
15. Blackpool - Loss to Carthage probably sealed the fate of a team that finally started to be more competitive again

16. Richmond - Relegated before they even started

ha, it didnt matter what people said about the rankings, just no one else was takign the time to do their own rankings, or heck anything for that matter, so im not going to put the time and effort into either, atleast not for now.

I really wish I could figure out what exactly my Nighthawks are missing to get us over the hump. I feel like we have a solid roster but it just never seems to come together. It is so frustrating.

@ Corey: I can start doing Zeta power rankings once I find my damn memory stick with the league projector sheet for season 5. With that I can easily see schedule strength, among other things.


I'm also doing my part by putting together a complete history of the WEPL.
