I plan on getting speed up to the 5:1 cap (73.25) on one of my WRs before putting points in any other attribute, which I should do by level 16. After that, rather than getting agility up I'm gonna get First Step follwed by Quick Cut to 9 (+1 from custom equipment). So I'm wondering if people think this will work and if anyone's had much benefit from points in First Step or Quick Cut?

Here's my WR: http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=831527

Whilst doing all this I'll be training on intense, trying to focus on catching and stamina. I estimate that all this should be completed by level 25. All his equipment will go into speed, putting it well past 100.

I've often thought that a Speed/Quick Cut HB or WR would work extremely well.

I'm not too sure if I'd go up to the 5:1 cap though. The 4:1 cap should be plenty enough to determine whether or not your experiment is a success.

Well I actually already have a level 22 Speed/Quick Cut HB who's playing quite well, although his Quick Cut won't be at 10 until tomorrow when I level up and boost.

I have 2 WRs who'll go to the 4:1 cap, but I wanna take this WR (aptly named Usain Bolt) even further.

Getting Quick Cut and First Step both up to 9 costs 50 points. Wouldn't it just be easier to invest those points into Agility for similar results?

you'll benefit with a high first step, one of my teammates did this same test but only with first step and not quick cut. he showed us a 72 speed 48 agility and 9 first step, then compared it with his other wr with the same stats w/out first step. they played a game, and after a while we finally found a replay with them lined up next to each other running streaks. of course, the first step guy accelerated faster off the line. he reached the 15 while the second guy reached 7 yards.

Because my HB with points in Quick Cut makes great cuts and you can see when Quick Cut's working. It would take 50 points to get agility up to the 60.51 cap anyway and your the one who just posted in other that people shouldn't just make another cookie-cutter WR build, and here I am experimenting with a different build.

Cool, so it could work then, although I hope my Quick Cut will make up for agility.

Are you ever gonna open up oscar chow's build again, since he is in the guide to creating players?!

im confident to say that there's better speedsters, but he manages just fine. =) but he's been there since season 2, but i've never boosted in my entire life, except for my OT.

Well I've looked at the guide loads when I'm thinking of trying different builds for my players.

Does he still play well in a pro league, despite the level difference?

well, im the last string receiver on my team because of my level, but we setted up the depth chart so everyone will play at different spots.. (WR1, WR2, WR3, etc.). so far all my TD's this season have been in the WR1 slot and against equal or 7-8 level higher CB's. and so far i have 2 drops.. i think the only reason i can play against higher level CB's is because of my speed, so imagine what higher level speedsters could do. but i play KR/PR too, so CB's could use that to their advantage because of my stamina.

haha its weird but ive actually got this exact experiment on the go atm with my lvl 3 HB. Im going to cap speed then start adding FS/QC, then get speed to 60 after a bit. Then add in some secondaries later.

How this for example. This is my guy on the Punt Return.

It a combination of First Step/Quick Cut/Head Fake I believe. This is also my second game with 60 Agility. His speed is 62 if you were also wondering.

Visc,
Here is what will ultimately happen if you build a high speed/First Step WR and don't put him on your own team:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=194352&pbp_id=3418892

3rd on the team in tackles that game.

sorry but i dont really see how first step makes more than a tiny difference on KOS. I mean, youre running straight and have 40 yards to get top speed. Without a lot of stops and starts, hes just a high speed WR.
