But isn't it more logical to get your own build right for your main focus (receiving), before you start worrying about helping other parts of the game.

At least in real football, you throw to win the game and run to keep a lead. If your advice was true the vikings would have won the superbowl last year. Throws are more important.

That's my view as well. Pitch plays and runs to the outside are dependent upon effective blocks by the WR. Blocking won't help pad your stats, but it will help your team win games.
If your WRs can block effectively, and you have a HB capable of producing explosive speed - expect some major yardage. Raising your WRs blocking is a simple way to increase your HBs average, simple as that.
Jumping to +2 soft cap - You'll catch more balls and be able to dunk the next time you play some hoops. Agility to +3 soft cap - In addition to helping you cut on a route, a high agility will allow you to dodge those questions with a nice evasive answer!
