Why does it seem like all NT's just keep pumping strength to obscene levels while neglecting other potentially important attributes?

If you ask 100 agents of NT's, would you prefer to have a) 100 strength and 60 agility, or b) 90 strength and 70 agility, 95% would say a.

and yet everyone complains that their NT's aren't doing much in games. Is it possible that having strength at 100 doesn't really help as much as you think it might?

Bort has hinted that some attributes work in tandem to create what sounds like an interaction effect.

It may take a while for most of us to realize this, but strength may not be the end all and be all for Nose Tackles.

Strength is not the end all, but yes the most important. The NT draws so many double teams, breaking both blocks in a lot of cases is a little much to be asked, regardless of stats unless you really outlevel the opposing line.

I would definately chose B over A.

Now which would you chose for a NT?
a) 90 strength, 70 agility, 45 tackling
b) 70 strength, 70 agility, 60 tackling

Personally, I would chose A for a NT and B for a DT

I myself am done pumping pts into STR, even as a NT. I'm looking to get my agility over 70 and see how that works. I still think it's not given enough weight for DTs. The C's and G's only have just over 1/2 the agility that most DTs have and somehow they rarely get beat. All they have to do is pump pts in STR and blocking for the most part and they will be studular in pass protection and the run game.

DT's have so many attributes to put stuff to that we're inherently weaker than interior OL of the same level or even 3-4 levels lower.

yes, it may be the most important, but that doesn't mean that all of your equipment needs to go into it. And it doesn't mean that agility is a distant second.

Get your agility higher than whatever it is and you'll notice that you'll start bouncing around like a pin pong ball more...it may not lead to many sacks, but you didn't create a NT to get sacks...you're there to plug the middle and prevent the HB from getting by you...the more agility you have, the more you'll be able to shed blocks to make those tackles...and every once in a while, you'll break through to make a sack.

I would choose a) for both NT's and DT's.

None of the above.

To be honest, the 100/60 to 90/70 is an extremely unrealistic comparison. With the points you'd need to invest into STR to get it from 90 to 100, you could probably get Agility up to 85.

So, time to re-ask the question.

100 STR 60 AGI or 90 STR 85 AGI?

I'll take the latter, thanks.

I'd much rather have a 100 agility, 60 strength NT to be honest.

what good is agility if your 60 strength NT is getting pancaked regularly by double teams? I would say a DT would have more success with that build than an NT, but even then you would get pancaked.

Any 60 str NTs out there want to chime in? I'm thinking they aren't getting pancaked as much as everybody seems to think...

I know for a fact that they aren't.

No offense, but I'm not sure you understand how pancakes work in this game.
