What are the benefits of a zone defense in relation to a team that passes a lot on offense? What's the best way to use the zone in this case?

from my experience zone defense is good if you have bad cbs in relation to the opponents wrs. Basically you end up playing bend but don't break defense. Zone defense won't give up big plays and is good in the redzone. Basically you give up a lot of yards and a lot of field goals, not many TDs

Your secondary better be good tacklers in zone. They will be making a lot of them.

Zone defense is a joke in GLB. The only time I've seen it used heavily with any success is near the GL.

When we say near the goal line, we mean around the 5 or so. Doing it at the 20 is a bad idea.

I guess I'm a little lost, since you guys say zone is good in the red zone or near GL but I don't see where and how.

I didn't write that. Sarge likes playing it down there. The closer you get to the endzone, you can use the back end line as another defender. I think thats what Sarge is getting at.

It depends on down and distance. If it's 1st and G on the 4 yard line, I'd be hesistant to call zone for that. On the other hand if it's 3rd/4th and G from the 4, that's a whole other ball game, because you're more likely to be facing the pass. Zone from the 5 absolutely blankets the endzone with DBs, resulting in a much higher INT chance if it's thrown. Nothing beats an endzone INT.
