does is matter play distance when its a run play?
It sets the formation to an extent. Picking S will get you I formation, picking L will get you pro, picking M gets single back 3WR. Something like that anyways..

This does not make sense to me. Pro and I can be the same thing. I can be run with 3 WRs. I understand that the formations may change, but can someone give a definitive answer to what they change to?

In this game, Pro is the split backfield set (FB strong side, HB weak). It is not an I-formation of any kind.
I have not been an offensive coordinator. I have heard some claims that it's possible to at least strongly increase the chance of getting some formations more often. I have heard some claims it doesn't work.
I can tell you the formations actually used in GLB because I know which defenses of mine are getting triggered on which plays.

Is the I also a pro set? Can the split-back be run with 3 WRs or pro? Can the I run with 3 WRs? If what you are saying is correct, then Pro means split-back. Is that correct?
I have always left my distance box blank due to this. I will go back and change that, if I can figure out the odds of getting certain formations.

The I is not a pro set. Pro is 2 WR only. I formation is any formation where the HB is deeper than the FB. There's straight I (they line up), Weak I (FB offset left), Strong I (FB offset right). There is a straight I 3-WR formation. The rest of the I's are 2 WR.
EDIT - There is no big I (2 TE, 1 WR set) actually used.

Just to clarify that this is completely false. That is all.
Also, kurieg is correct, msupoke.

Ignore the flipped positions...I was lazy and threw that up in a few minutes and I wanted them all facing the same direction, so I didn't bother fixing the backwards acronyms on the dots.

the one in shotgun, where the HB lines up on the same yard as the QB, is Basic Shotgun
The one where the backs are split, is Split Backs.

It's called Pro set.
