We've all wondered what it takes to force a fumble, everything from high strength to closing speed and putting SPs into big hit, monster hit, etc so the million dollar question is:

What does it take to cause a fumble regardless of what level your player is?

Possible answers ( im guessing !) have to do with a combination of speed /strength/agility and tackling and less to do with SA's.

Does anyone agree or disagree?

For example who has had success with FF with skills in the 40's ( speed, agility, strenght, etc ) and has anyone had more fumbles by increasing just one of those skills in relation to the other skills ( e.g. strength 50, all other skills 40 )?

And also when is it " safe" to turn off wrap-up tackling in pursuit of FF and not miss tackles, and again from balanced to power tackling, is there a magic number, or combo of numbers in skills which would mean you can stop wrapping up and go to power tackling?

i have no idea how this works, i mean in my 2nd season, my first full season i had 3 FF and we went 13-3 that year, last season team goes 5-11 and although i had a higher number of tackles (115) i only had 1 FF, you'd think being a higher level and having so many tackles would lead to more FF's...confidence and morale maybe? bad season, not so hard tackling? who knows

as far as tackling styles, i'm going to test that this preseason, i have 40 str, 48 tkl, 46 agi and 53 vision so we'll see how that goes

You should be fine playing on balanced all season.

kissofdeath, My SS has slightly less strength, the same tackling and slightly higher agility so lets go balanced and compare the results?

i have a FS and my FFs went up last season by increasing my tackling. i only forced 2 fumbles in the regular season but i had had 3-4 more in our scrimages. i really think that strength has little to nothing to do with tackling strength. i think it all has to do with speed at point of impact (so agility factors in as well) and your tackling skills. i'm focusing on getting my tackling above 50 (at 48 now) and i'll report back on what happens. oh yeah my strength is at 36.5 so its about 12 points less than my tackling. lets see what happens.

i tried power tackling in our first preseason game, 4 tkls, 0 missed and 0 FF

Last season, the consensus was that msot fumbles are caused by a high speed collision... defender moving quickly towards an oncoming ball carrier... however when I went through a bunch of games and watched all plays with fumbles, I saw very little evidence of that. I saw at least as many fumbles caused by defensive linemen as the runner crossed the line of scrimmage as I saw from high speed collisions, and other general randomness. Naturally, guys with crappy carrying stats fumbled far more often, regardless of who was hitting them... so I really question the effectiveness of Big/Monster Hit SA's and high strength causing more fumbles.

Obviously this game is far from being balanced, so trying to build towards what is going to cause fumbles now as compared to what should cause fumbles in the finished game is just silly. Make your guy in a way that makes sense and eventually the game will catch up with him.

Its random. I play on wrap up and I had 5 FF last season. I have 8 total and I play wrap up every game. My strength is only in the 30s and my tackling is in the 40s.

Here is a couple of mine:
