Don't even ask why.

We have to enter our opening-round playoff game with a TE that has a KICKING of 12 (27, if boosted). It has been three seasons since I've tried to utilize any player - let alone a kicker - with a primary skill as low as this, so I can't even speculate.

Can he at least make a 20-yarder?

Thanks.

Or, further, as we are trying to work this out, which would you choose: a punter with 7 kicking or a TE with 27 kicking?

Schedule a scrimmage before your real game if you can to test it out?

I would recommend going for the TD over even a 20-yarder. If you can get that far into the red zone, a decent chance at 6 points is better than an uncertain chance at 3.

Even the worst kickers will usually get 20+ kicking off the bat. I imagine it's hard to find someone who has ever kicked with less.
