The play in question.

FACT: My player (St. Paul) is destroyed on this play.

I've been watching this trying to figure out if it's a Pump Fake on the QB's part, or a Head Fake/Juke by the WR.

Just wondering as it would help me allocate points in the future to hopefully not let this occur that often.

I was set to "close" coverage distance and "medium" coverage style. I know the guy outlevels me, but it doesn't seem to be just a build issue as far as attribute skills. It looks specifically like a special ability is triggering and I'm biting hardcore. If anyone can throw a bone I'd appreciate it.

Tell your owner to not make it so the FS runs to help your LB double cover the FB, otherwise it looks like a pump fake to me.

Good question, honestly. A few folks, myself included, have posted about similar things. If it was real-life, it looks as your guy tripped over his feet and fell down (no offense, I hope).

The best guess is that tweaks to head fake/pump fake have make them genuinely effective from time to time. Some say TOO effective, but CBs do get burned every game.

I would make a Jason David joke (Saints fan), but he played hell-out special teams last pre-season game.

I've both caught (as a WR) and been burnt on that pattern, and pump fake seems to be the cause.

The only fix that I have seen work is more pressure on the QB. If he is scrambling backwards, it seems like this pass will fall short of the WR (even though the pass looks on target, it is not caught).

I would think that your guy tried to get between the WR and the ball and make an interception but failed

Thanks for the feedback, guys. It's been a crazy season on defense, that's for damn sure. I've got dead even speed and agility in the mid-60's range and vision capped so I'm kind of at an impasse as far as what I want to seriously raise for him. Probably just start raising the Shutdown SA's and see what happens.

From the replay it looks like a pump fake, and the fact that the QB is a level 29 it was more of a bad play call. 3rd and 10 you should have a FS over the top. One on one your going to get burn every once in a while. It's a CB's life.

and a level 28 receiver with all green bars. Ask your dc about his play calling. In an obvious passing down, you should have help over the top. My God, you've got 5 defenders covering the FB, TE and short receiver. Even if the pass was completed, there wouldn't have been a 1st down

Welcome to the world of pump fake.

Flooded the strong side in the I-formation and left the weak side WR in one on one situation. Oldest trick in the book.

looks like quick cut or pump fake were turned on and you missed your vision check...
