You guys should look on the defensive side for MVP this year

You've got no chance Mathis, MJD will somehow get enough votes for Defensive MVP.

Well yea, duh. But that's only because you keep nominating him...

Might as well present my case for Mathis for MVP here.

He put up 42 sacks against the Eastern conference, coming in second in overall sacks in the entire league, next to Edge Rush. However Edge Rush had 16 sacks against the gutted Supernovas and 8 against the Wardogs - in comparison, Mathis had 2 sacks against the Wardogs and put up his best numbers against the Mustangs (6 sacks in a 33-21 victory). Purehatred remarked that he was "the best player on the best team", which is saying something when your team is 16-0. He helped push the DDL into the final four, and was the difference maker in a 21-16 victory - racking up six sacks and a FF against the SGA. He had 4 sacks in our only loss of the season against the Bangkok Seamen.

Why I would put him over the Riverboat Gambler is because there are a few QBs with comparable numbers to his, who are almost (if not as) important to their respective teams. Mathis' only real competition was Lawrence Jackson who is widely considered one of the best and most consistent DEs in all of GLB. Go DDL!

I certainly think Mathis should get consideration. And he will get my vote for DPOY too... I am curious who these QBs that put up numbers comparable to Gambler were though... as far as I can tell, the only ones who came anywhere close to him had HUGE stat-pad games vs gutted teams. Gambler didn't...

Still, I think Mathis, Gambler, Csonka, etc all can make legit cases this season.

You forget Edge was level 26-27 till week 9 so unlike Mathis he wasnt exactly the same level and still managed to stay up there in sacks I do agree the 16 sacks in a single game did help but Edge had a sack almost every single game.

Yes, he had a very impressive season without the Sag. game. Mathis boosted week 12 if it matters.

Are you leaving with Flames?

We're counting scrimmages now?

No, and especially not when we left our tactics the same throughout the tourney.

Just adding that in to show his importance to his team, and that he performs better against tougher competition.
