He routinely gives up 10-15 passes a game. He is losing friends, and even his mom has stopped telling him that he played well.

Other CB's on the team have very similar builds, and are playing awesome. I've tried both close and medium coverage distance, and neither seems to help. Is this discrepanacy likely just due to the fact that my CB is covering the #1 WR? Here's the build:

Strength: 18.16 Blocking: 10
Speed: 68.95 Tackling: 23.96
Agility: 49.95 Throwing: 8
Jumping: 25.63 Catching: 24.82
Stamina: 30.98 Carrying: 15.25
Vision: 46.81 Kicking: 7
Confidence: 17.03 Punting: 9

3-4-6-2-3
1-1-1-0-0

Looks pretty good for lvl. 22. I would bet that if he were starting in place of either of the other CBs, your stats would look better. That said, your stats certainly aren't bad, but if you are matched up with the #1 WR all game then I think you answered your own question.

If I had to suggest point distribution, I'd get jumping and catching to 30 through SP/training, train confidence up to 25-30, and stick with close coverage. At some point agility and vision will need to be closer to your speed, but the other things could be shored up quicker right now.

How is your morale? If he's getting burned alot and his confidence is only 17 I would guess it's well short of 100.

Morale is routinely at 100, but that's becuase the team wins a lot. I have a feeling his in-game morale may get pretty low.

Do you recommend switching one or two of my speed equipment to agility or vision?

Pretty much. Hold off on speed for now, get Jumping to 35ish ASAP then bring Agility nearly even with Speed. I'm by no means perfect, but have had some decent success with my CB's build.

Lvl 30

Strength: 24.92 Blocking: 7
Speed: 66.88 Tackling: 23.68
Agility: 62.1 Throwing: 7
Jumping: 39.46 Catching: 33.07
Stamina: 42.04 Carrying: 16.71
Vision: 49.56 Kicking: 8
Confidence: 23.87 Punting: 9

3-3-5-2-3
1-2-1-0-0

Note: Less than 30 of my tackles from this year are on passing plays, and that's including catches by WR's that I wasn't covering.

Thanks for the advice. 90 tackles is crazy, though - do you get blitzed a lot? Or are you just great at getting off the WR blocks to stop the pitches?

Ask to be #2 CB for a bit and see if that helps. If it does, you know it's not your fault.

I'd get shutdown coverage up to 6-7, and Jumping to 35-40 (and you may as well softcap vision )

Yeah I make a lot of stops on outside runs and usually make around 2 ST tackles / game.

What coverage Style are you using? Might want to try Medium if you're on Aggressive. Aside from that, what's already been said still goes - build looks good, could use a tad more jumping/catching, might want to try a different place on the DC.
