I'm slow building a FS.

The plan is to get his vision and speed up to the 60 soft cap asap with skill points, then fill in agility to 50, then stamina, tackling, confidence, catching, jumping, and strength to somewhere less than 50. Eventually by season six or so, depending on how I distribute equipment, he should be able to have 100/75, 95/80, 90/85, or 88/88 for speed and vision.

My question is this: Should I invest equipment equally between speed and vision to end up at 88/88? Or should I favor speed over vision, or vision over speed?

A related question which I've never seen the answer to: Is 100 the highest any stat can go? Even with Special Ability modifiers? Another words, if I had 100 vision, would the Super Vision SA not do anything to my guy, and therefore having 100 vision would be a waste of time, and it would be better to have 85 or 88 with some levels in Super Vision? Or can the abilities go above 100, meaning Super Vision would make my vision something like 125?

I would favor agility and vision over speed. Once the SS has speed in the 60s, it really doesnt need to go much higher. They are never covering the WR1 or WR2 wide receiver. They are normally on the TE or the 3rd of 4th string wide out.

Thanks for the input. I do have to wonder though, if agility is more important than speed, why is speed a major attribute and agility is a minor one? (according to how much they increase automatically at level-up)

My thinking was that having vision high and then getting speed up high would let him cover large distances on the ground while the ball is in the air so that he's always there to make the play. Obviously there is a correlation between speed and agility though, 90 speed with 20 agility does nobody any good at all because you never get up to 90, and 20 speed with 60 agility is only good for linemen, not the secondary.

That is good question. I never understood that either. The problem with too much speed, you may over pursue which is bad.

I see no need in getting speed over 50 with SP's. The ~20 points it takes to go from 48 to 60 are better spent elsewhere imo.

That would be fine, except QB's throwing is a little imbalanced in that they can throw 30 yard bullet passes that by the time they are about to be caught you're guy is just now starting to move to it. Vision affects it a lot more than speed ever will. No such thing as a long floating pass in GLB. They're all bullet passes.

so maybe a final goal of 100/75/55 vision/speed/agility?

Just throwing around numbers to get some advice from you veteran FS builders.

You wont need vision that high and as a FS, you cannot forget about jumping.

just to point out, mogs was saying this for a strong safety, which yes i think agility is more important. but for a FS it's different...
