Just thought this was amusing from our recent scrimmage:

Hooray for the offensive line.

that rarely happens. usually its only 1 to 2 yards if the offensive linemen pick a fumble up.

Put it is a feat none the less

I was just thinking on the topic of fumbles. Olaf has decent carrying. He is decently strong. He also has 3 SAs in cover up... yet he fumbles more frequently than many others in the league that likely do not have the same carrying or hold-on-to-the-ball ability.

Cody Hollenbach of the Pythons has carried the ball 246 times this year and broken 64 tackles. He's also scored 34 touchdowns. That's 276 times he's been hit by a player. He's fumbled twice.

Olaf Kolzig of the Capitals has carried the ball 349 times and broken 194 tackles with 39 touchdowns. That's 504 times he's been hit by a player. He's fumbled NINE times!

138 carries per fumble for Cody.
56 carries per fumble for Olaf.

You'd think they'd be closer or Olaf's overall average would be better assuming his carrying ability is higher than Cody's. (Which it may or may not be, but I bet it is likely.)

Cat McDozer 290, 134 - 40.. 384. 7 fumbles. Once per 54 carries.
I bet Cat McDozer is likely to also have more carrying and related attributes.

This is fucked!!

Then again, Olaf and Cat get dirty and Cody's just a bitch.

it might have to do with who is doing the hitting...like if it is a run outside against a CB versus a run inside versus a lineman or a LB....just a thought.

plus the added randomization of the caps bug/glitch that affects everything you do...LOL.

This could be due to getting hit by different players due to line, game plan, or build. Not to mention normal variation and luck.

HAHA I have to admit, that was a pretty awesome play. Go O-line!

Yeah, the Olaf and Cat getting dirty line was to imply they're taking hits from DTs, MLBs, F/SSs. Cody's running out of bounds and dancing with DE and CBs and shit.

i fumbled quite a bit in season 2 and 3. some minor modifications this year seemed to fix that up.

You know it could be run style too.

When you get hit 500+ times in 13 games, you're gonna fumble some. I'm not complaining. I just thought the variance between Cody vs Cat and Olaf was notably significant and surprising.

Plays like that one seem predestined to succeed. We've had similar plays (and had them done to us!) and each time I'm thinking, no way!

i agree, i've seen a significant drop in my fumbles even from last year. and its not something i've worked on significantly, barely probably. probably some luck for a few, and the carry style. thats probably it.
