Just trying to summarize where we currently stand:
- everyone can send in a ballot
- one ballot only includes players from one conference, but you can send in votes for both conferences if you like
- ballot counter reserves the right to dismiss ballots if there are obvious signs of vote stuffing
- DT/NT; LDE/RDE; LOT/ROT; LG/RG; OLB/MLB are all considered to be one position each
- Ranking is based on number of points, number of first place votes is used as a tie breaker
- Voting starts with the end of the regular season and ends the day of the Conference Championship games
Points still under contention:
- Same or different number of nominations per position
Based on last seasons experience I'd still say this is probably not worth the effort, and I would like to restrict the list to three per position. Keep in mind that your suggestions hopefully will drive up the number of ballots send in, and spare a thought for the poor sod that has to put everything into a spreadsheet. Besides, yes, you might have to make a tough decision, but this is an AllStar ballot, so only the absolute top players should get on your ballot anyway.
- Limited number of players from team you are on
I still say you should at least have to nominate two players from other teams at the same position for this to be allowed. As a compromise if you do not nominate players from other teams at that position your vote will only be counted with the lowest value for that position, e.g. 1 point
As for the nomination lists to put together the final ballot, if anyone wants to do that is fine, but I won't get involved in that case. It is hard enough to get everyone to submit a full ballot in time, so having to chase teams and people to do it twice, first to put the ballot together and then to vote on it, is not something that I am willing to do, my estimate would be that we'd still be chasing votes midseason if we did it this way, or leave some very deserving players out as their owner can't be bothered.
I think this is probably the best way. Can divy out positions with more players by awarding more slots.
