I'm not so sure.
I don't have any concrete evidence to support what I'm about to describe but bare with me:
say you're a DT with high blocking (like 25)
during many run plays, they develop on the opposite side away from you and you aren't in a good position to make a tackle and a guard or center is holding his block on you initially
well soon enough that OLineman is often going to want to stop blocking you and manuver downfield and block another defender still threatening to tackle the ballcarrier
if you (the DT) have low blocking there's nothing you can do to stop the Olineman from breaking off his block on you (the DT) and moving on his merry little way downfield to block another one of your defensive buddies (ie a LB or DB)
but if you do have some blocking skill then you can more effectively prevent him from breaking away from you and keep your defensive buddies free to attempt to make a play on the ballcarrier
I can't prove this and I would like just as much as any of you to just have to focus on training 1 or 2 other important attributes while spending SPs in my primaries but this is why I thin blocking shouldn't completely be overlooked entirely by Dlinemen
it's a teamwork mentality
blocking (I don't think) won't help your production increase but will help you (the DT) inhibit the OL etc from keeping their mangled looking paws on of your teammates
