Hi there I'm building a new WR and just wondering what 3 things would you soft cap 1st? I'm putting all my equipment into speed. Also what would you lvl up 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc..? I'm thinking Speed, Agility, Catching, Vision, Confidence.

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Jumping has become more important than earlier.

Sounds like your right on track. That will take about three seasons though, and you will still need more than that to be competitive.

There is an old saying that applies around here "Jack of all trades master of none" This is what you are building.

Ah so I should hold off on the SA's as long as i can? I forgot jumping yes. Does this game favor the speedy guy over the possession guy?

My receiver is more of possession guy and he is doing pretty good this season.

The first true test will be against the next team, because both of starting CBs are 4 over 4 levels higher than my WR.

Speed 59,61 with equipment
Agility 50,92 with equipment
catching 57,61 with equipment

Speed: 51,61 (without equipment)
Agility: 48,92 (without equipment)
Catching: 49,61 (without equipment)

Edit: Don't spend points to SAs early.

Well you need to get open first. Right? I don't care if you catch like Jerry Rice, if the QB doesn't throw the ball your way what are you going to do.

Don't get me wrong on my last post you are right on track with the attributes order. You might want to think about which cap to take your skills too. Having them all just to the lower soft cap, makes you ordinary.

Can you post some replay's? I would love to see your guy in action.

EDIT: Oh wait, you meant to put 62 with equipment.

It doesn't really favor anything. To make a large generality: The speedy guy will get open more and thus have more balls thrown his way, but he won't catch many of them. The possession guy will catch most of the balls thrown his way, but he won't get many looks because he won't be open as often. At the end of the day they will have similar stats so I wouldn't worry about it.

I'm not convinced a jack of all trade build is a poor choice, yes your stats may be lower in speed and agility than the opposing cornerback, but your higher strength, jumping, confidence should make up for the difference-> but that is just my unconfirmed opinion. On a side note, I'm beginning to think building players is idiot proof as long as you don't put points in irrelevant abilities.

i soft capped my WR at speed and agility so far and am now working on catching.

i've been watching the replays to check out his route running and he seems to get decent separation from CB's 10+ lvl's up, but he has poor vision and catching to do much. i'm impress so far though, b/c most lvl 20+ WR have speed around second cap, and all other relevant attributes at 30. so i figure right now i can run better than some lvl 20+ WR, all i have to do is slowly get other attributes to make an impact.

Irish, get your catching to 30 then pump SA's.

I agree with you somewhat but not entirely.

While its true you will have to specialize in one or two things, you also don't want to be a freak and go overboard on just one thing. The sexy thing to do the past couple seasons was to have 80+ speed and 15 agility. That's not healthy, either.

My suggestion is to feed SPs into your major attributes (speed, agility, vision) while you train up the more minor attributes (i.e jumping, strength, etc).

Get a solid core first so that you have a solid balanced base, and then by level 10 +, you are stlll "young" enough to start specializing in one tree or another. Don't even worry about SAs until you're level 12+ or so.
