THE PEERLESS PURPLE PENGUIN PROGNOSTICATIONS (PPPP): WEEK THIRTEEN!!!

Last season I couldn’t get a prediction involving the Lincoln Freedom Warriors right to save my life. They always confuse me, to the point where I always seem to make the wrong call. Maybe it’s something about all that corn in the middle states, I dunno. Not much ocean in Nebraska, I hear.

In any event, Lincoln came away with their biggest win of the season last week and are now officially on a roll. So many good teams this season and only one can get promoted! It’s going to be an exciting playoff!!!

Season Results: 69-9
Week Twelve Results: 6-2
Texas at Sin City Prediction: SIN 17-10 Actual: TEX 7-6
Syracuse at Frostburg Prediction: SYR 48-12 Actual: SYR 63-0
Saginaw at Richmond Prediction: SAG 3-10 Actual: SAG 74-0
Baltimore at Cleveland Prediction: CLV 30-6 Actual: CLV 37-10
Red Bank at Jax Beach Prediction: RBK 31-17 Actual: RBK 40-3
Appalachian at River City Prediction: APP 38-13 Actual: APP 86-6
Houston at Atlanta Prediction: ATL 35-10 Actual: ATL 37-3
Lincoln at Louisville Prediction: LOU 44-24 Actual: LIN 24-20

(8) Atlanta Purple Penguins (12-0) at The State of Texas Domination (1-11)-----Texas comes off its first win of the season and the first under its new ownership, establishing Sin City now as the conference doormat in the Battle for the Basement. And while victory is always sweet, it’s the Domination is likely to experience one of their lowest points of the season after one of their highest. Atlanta doesn’t tend to accumulate as many points as other team do in their blowouts, but nonetheless, this shouldn’t create much anxiety on the Purple Penguin sideline……….ATLANTA-73 TEXAS-0

(7) Sin City Showboats (4-8) at Lincoln Freedom Warriors (10-2)-----Lincoln comes off a BIG win against the Louisville (OHIO!) Baby Kittens showing the Prognosticator that he still can’t seem to get a fix on the Freedom Warriors—not last year, and not this year either. Obviously the new additions to the Lincoln squad had much more of an impact than the Chemistry hit, and the Freedom Warriors took advantage of their aggressive work in the free agent marketplace by stymieing their feline foils. Lincoln is on a 7 game winning streak and looking to tune up for their showdown with the Penguins next week. For now, they’ll play a little scrimmage against Sin City to work themselves into even more of a frenzy. <Sigh> How come everyone want to pick on us poor little penguin-folk???...……..LINCOLN-76 SIN CITY-0

(6) Cleveland Buckeyes (2-10) at Red Bank Thundercats (10-2)-----This must be the week for mismatches. Red Bank squares off against a good Cleveland squad that just took the muscle out of the Hustle, but just doesn’t have the horses to match up with one of the Conference elites. Red bank has its own showdown to look forward to next week against Appalachian, and if they can beat the Lycans, they place themselves in the driver’s seat for the second overall seed and home playoff advantage for TWO rounds instead of just the first round. Lots to play for and a lot of anticipation for the next game---but are they looking past Cleveland and opening the door to disaster in the process? Uh, no...….…..RED BANK-30 CLEVELAND-17

(5) Frostburg Bobcats (2-10) at Saginaw Spirit (6-6)-----Saginaw’s problem isn’t with the lower tier teams---it’s with the higher rated ones. As evidenced by their convincing conquest of the Empire this past week, the Spirit have plenty of firepower to bring to bear---too much for the Bobcats to be able to counter effectively. The Saginaw Stampede continues...………SAGINAW-63 FROSTBURG-6

(4) Richmond Empire (1-11) at Baltimore Hustle (1-11)-----FINALLY, a relatively evenly matched game pitching the Empire against the Hustle. Both had setbacks last week, but the Empire look to be the more improved team of the two. Baltimore has had trouble even with teams from the “Gang of Six” at the bottom of the standing, while Richmond’s only win is against Texas. Pretty much a toss-up, but the call here is for Richmond...…..RICHMOND-24 BALTIMORE-9

(3) Jax Beach Juggernauts (6-6) at Appalachian Lycans (11-1)-----Last week we said that Jax Beach was due for an explosion, but just not against the Thundercats. It isn’t going to happen against what is probably the best defensive team in the conference, the Lycans, either. Saginaw, Jax Beach and River City are locked in a titanic struggle for that last playoff berth, with Saginaw holding a huge schedule advantage. Somehow the Juggernauts are going to have to come up with something to stop at least one of these elite teams, but I can’t imagine what it’s going to be....……..APPALACHIAN-42 JAX BEACH-0

(2) Louisville Baby Kittens (9-3) at Syracuse Samurai (8-4)-----Louisville finds itself in a pitched battle to secure the #4 seed and a home playoff game. The loss to Lincoln vaulted the Freedom Warriors into the 4th position, and the Kittens can only hope that the Purple Penguins and someone else can put a stop to the Lincoln Express. In the meantime, the Louisville team must take care of their own schedule and follow up the tough Warriors game with a matchup against a very talented Syracuse squad. Syracuse has turned around their season after starting 3-4, to win 5 straight games and find themselves in the thick of a playoff race. The question is, can the Samurai beat ANY of the higher rated teams? Thus far, they have dominated teams rated below them and struggled against teams rated higher. If they plan to go anywhere in the playoffs, they need to learn how to win against tough opposition, and there’s no time like the present! Still, Syracuse’s major weakness, their secondary, plays right into the Baby Kittens’ strength. That’s bad news for any Samurai Supporters.…..….…..LOUISVILLE-45 SYRACUSE-20

(1) GAME OF THE WEEK: The River City Ransom (5-7) at Houston Armageddon (8-4)-----River City should be renamed Streaky City. Four straight wins earlier in the season, now followed by four straight losses. If they have a hope of landing a playoff berth, this is a BIG game. A contest with Lincoln looms large on the horizon, and two losses in the last four games would effectively eliminate the Ransom from playoff football. The disturbing omen I see is the horrible Chemistry rating for the Ransom (Overall = 25) and I hope this is not an indication that River City is going the way of Sin City, Roswell, Texas, and South Bend (now Baltimore). Regardless, the combination of the Houston club looking for someone to take out their frustrations upon from this past week and the lousy Chemistry rating adds up to only one result...……..HOUSTON-38 RIVER CITY-6

Despite the fact that Houston/River City sets up as a lopsided game, I had to put them as the game of the week or else everyone would think I was getting paid as a publicist for the Kittens (how DO they get into so many big games???). In any event, the playoff teams are beginning to separate themselves from the masses, and the seedings are now the prize for many of these clubs. Have a great game, everybody!

Crap these things are so accurate.

I do agree...We (The Samurai) do struggle against bigger teams, but this match against "OHIO" will be a struggle of two very good teams.

Good Luck Louisville and may the best team win
