Assuming a 4-3 base, what schemes can one use that effectively defend against the medium pass?

We've been using a Cover 1 Man under, but the CB settings we've been using don't seem to stop the 8 to 9 yd pass to the WR. Close / Agg or Close / Med.

Just pinging the GLB world to hear your thoughts on the subject.

Yup... That mixed with the huge success running games are having right now (Ie, power backs) the defense in this game is pretty shady at best.

okay what about individual tactics for the CBs of Close / Loose? does that result in more swatted away balls?

Seems more personnel problem than a AI problem. Some zone plays could help too, allowing the LBs to possibly bat away or pick some balls over the middle.

I've been trying to figure out the same question myself. running hasn't been a problem, as my team's defense stops the run game well enough, but usually we falter in the mid to long passing game.

Cover 2 helps give me CBs some aid over the top, though I noticed today my SS wasn't doing as well, but I had him focus on run plays, which might have contributed to it. I think it also comes down to player match ups - WRs vs CBs.

Get a decent LOLB, and play man. He should mark the TE out. Get good CB's and play man. They should shut down the passes deep.

Build quality CB's And Safeties.Last year had shitty builds as backups and would give up huge chunks of land when they came in.Promised myself not to even think about putting someone in the def lineup like that anymore.Send those players to the majority of owners who treat this as a part time hobby.
