Well, I was right, I didn't have time/desire to put a ranking together following the week 8 games, but the benefit is that it looks like we are starting to get this thing to make some sense as the sample size increases.

And a special congratulations to Richmond, for their 1st win well...ever.

Anyway the components are as follows:

OPOA – Offensive Points Over Average, how many points have you scored against your competition vs. the average they allow.

DPUA – Defensive Points Under Average, how does you points allowed each game compare to the average scored by your opponent.

SOS – Strength of Schedule, are you playing tough competition, or have you build your record on the gutted ruins littering the bottom of the rankings.

WB – Did you beat a top team, then you get bonus points, did you beat one of the ND’s of BBB#7, then you get nothing.

Only a couple head scratchers left, as things really start to sort themselves out. But fire away with the complaints anyway. This is no fun without the discussion.

The Top of the Heap

#1 – Atlanta Purple Penguins (9-0, rank 39.12) (Last Week: 4)

See just like I told you, the rankings are all better now. The undefeated Purple Penguins Preen over the Pouting Posers, Proving their Performance Penultimate. (Whatever that means). Anyway, solid wins over Red Bank and River City impressed the spreadsheet enough to vault Atlanta to our top spot. Jax Beach is up next, with the Lycan (I still think its a cat) lying in wait after that.

#2 – Louisville Baby Kittens (7-2, rank 37.92) (Last Week: 1)

Fuckity Fuck Fuck, oh well, maybe it is a Surprise to see a twice defeated team holding down the #2 spot, but the Spreadsheet loves Louisville's High OPOA, DPUA, SOS and stong WB, yeah they are just all around good. The last minute herorics by Appalachian, didn't hurt Louisville in the rankings other than they got no WB. They still out performed the averages. Next up is a tough Houston squad, before their bye... I mean The State of Texas.

#3 – Oakland Nation (9-0, rank 36.69) (Last Week: 6)

The West gets no respect. I am filing a protest over these rankings. There is no way a 0 loss Oakland team should be ranked below a 2 loss Louisville. Where do I send my complaint, shit thats my email isn't it...IDIOT. Oakland is 3rd for a simple reason, their D is not as dominant as last year. This weeks match-up with #8 Chicago should be another great test for Oakland.

#4 – Red Bank Thundercats (7-2, rank 35.68) (Last Week: 2)

Red Bank is just about where they should be. A couple teams may argue that they should be ranked higher, but the numbers don't lie. Both of their losses have come at the hands of the top two teams, both of which were held well under their averages. Red Bank may slip a bit however, as the spreadsheet will not be particulary impressed with their next few games.

#5 – Texas Tarheels (6-3, rank 32.36) (Last Week: 3)

Three losses, and still in the top 5? Damn you spreadsheet!!! It is the win bonus making the difference here, giving the Tarheels the slimmest of margins over our next squad, and their next opponent. Thats right it is Texas vs. Anchorage in our BBB#7 game of the week.

2nd tier

#6 – Anchorage Vikings (8-1, rank 31.77) (Last Week: 5)
If you feel slighted, take it out on Texas.

#7 – Appalachian Lycans (9-0, rank 28.04) (Last Week: 10)
If you feel slighted, score more and blame whomever backloaded your schedule.

#8 – Chicago Whodat’s (8-1, rank 26.76) (Last Week: 12)
If you feel slighted, well you play the writers team next, do something about it.

#9 – Lincoln Freedom Warriors (7-2, rank 24.27) (Last Week: 7)
If you feel slighted, you shouldn't you have a negative OPOA and are still in the top 10.

#10 – LA Chupacabras (7-2, rank 23.96) (Last Week: 9)
If you feel slighted, just look at the next team, and know that you shouldn't.

If your ranking is under 20, you could be on the bubble

#11 – Austin Breakers (8-1, rank 23.69) (Last Week: 11)
#12 – Saginaw Spirit (3-6, rank 18.78) (Last Week: 8)
#13 – Houston Armageddon (7-2, rank 18.23) (Last Week: 14)
#14 – Syracuse Samurai (5-4, rank 17.22) (Last Week: 13)
#15 – Malibu Mels (6-3, rank 14.23) (Last Week: 16)

If your ranking is under 10, you could be in trouble

#16 – DLF Gods (3-5, rank 11.49) (Last Week: 15)
#17 – The River City Ransom (5-4, rank 10.41) (Last Week: 20)
#18 – Jax Beach Juggernauts (5-4, rank 8.88) (Last Week: 21)
#19 – Texas Two Step (6-3, rank 8.74) (Last Week: 18)
#20 – Visalia Paraplegics (2-7, rank 3.40) (Last Week: 17)

Bigger corrections, the record or the ranking?

#21 – Big Whiskey Assassins (1-8, rank 1.76) (Last Week: 19)
#22 – Cleveland Buckeyes (1-8, rank 0.64) (Last Week: 22)
#23 – Santa Cruz Slashers (2-7, rank -1.32) (Last Week: 25)
#24 - Sin City Showboats (4-5, rank –1.95) (Last Week: 24)
#25 - Fresno Anarchs (5-4, rank –2.88) (Last Week: 27)

And now for your stat padding pleasure

#26 - Big Money Dynasty (0-9, rank -4.60) (Last Week: 23)
#27 – Phoenix Scorpions (1-8, rank –6.21) (Last Week: 26)
#28 – Roswell Invaders (1-8, rank –8.48) (Last Week: 28)
#29 – Baltimore Hustle (1-8, rank –11.00) (Last Week: 29)
#30 – Richmond Empire (1-8, rank –14.75) (Last Week: 30)

Well I think we have these two right
#31 – The State of Texas Domination (0-9, rank –36.33) (Last Week: 31)
#32 – Amish Farmers (0-9, rank –41.16) (Last Week: 32)

Oh, and just so you know I didn't forget this week, ND sucks.

doesn't matter, we evidently don't need to score more to beat teams. the lycans beat your 2nd rated team and shutout the best passing offense in this league. In my mind and the NFL's way of Power Ranking, that makes us ranked ahead of your 2nd best team, still enjoy reading this and being the underdog though. Thanks brick!

Also, thanks for a hell of a game lousville, you are a great team and definately deserve a very high ranking.

Thanks Brick...

I agree with you ... don't know how we still hold anything other then the 32 Spot with us sucking it up so badly all of a sudden.

Anyway - hope to give Anchorage a bit of a run for their money before we start on an easier schedule till our last game where we face off against the Penguins (Not looking forward to that but maybe by then we will have figured out our problem and at least made it competitive)

I wish we could have played Sin City after they disbanded. You guys got lucky picking up several stat padding games. Enjoy your time on top of the league leader boards.

Actually, I think that Lycans are more interested in Defensive numbers or just win/loss records.

There are some that believe lycanthropy could be someone turning into a bear or great cat of some kind. In fact, if you go with Native American traditions it could be many different animals. That said, most would think of the traditional wereWOLF as the primary lycanthrope.

yeah, it describes that also in that link, that it is called something else, but lycanthrope is only human-wolf
