Donkeidic, excellent description. I to feel that is how catching and jumping work. With a few added ideas.

Catching: Increases the size of the red bubble.
Jumping: Can move the bubble horizontally (diving catch) or vertically (jumping catch)
Vision: Can move the bubble horizontally during the route run to adjust to a poor throw

I also think that catching, jumping, vision and agility are all used in determining if a catchable pass is caught, so they all act as a two pass filter.
can I catch the ball? yes or incomplete
do I catch the ball? yes or drop

This is it pretty much. WR's however, depend nothing on vision to make the catch. Bort has stated in the past that in order to catch the ball, CB's have to go through a vision check before they catch it, but WR's do not have to go through that same check.

Vision for a WR helps route running I think and running after the catch, but unless Bort changed it, it does not matter for actually catching the ball

This is wrong. Bort has explicitly stated that vision helps WRs catch. They may not use the same check as a CB, but it is needed.

A CB has an extra check for "Can I see the pass?" that WR's do not. Bort stated that the WRs always see the pass.

So....

CB:
Do I see the pass?
Is the pass in range?
Do I catch/deflect the ball?

WR:
Is the pass in range? (no = incomplete, yes = continue)
Do I catch the ball? (no = drop, yes = completion)

Maybe it helps slightly, but vision i not important to catch the ball. There are much more important things. Look at the post above, that is how it goes. That is what Bort has said, I have read it multiple times.

You're wrong. Vision does not help route running but WRs DO have a "can I catch it" check before attempting to catch a pass and Bort has explicitly said that vision is a part of the check. I shall find and show you the link.

If he changed it recently, then I am wrong, but I know for a fact that I have read that WR's do not have to go through the vision check, from Bort. It was back late in Season 4 probably the last time I read it, so he could have changed it since then.

No, WR's don't have to make that same check to see if they "see" the ball to react to it in time. They just have to make a "can I catch it" check, since they know it's coming.

I have stated that it may help a little, but as a part of a check is not that important. CB's need to make a single vision check, WR's its part of a bigger check. It is not that important to catching, but does help some, like I stated.

I'm not saying that it's important, all my WRs have been succesful with 30 max vision, I was just saying that it is a part of the WRs check.

I think Strength could play a role in catching, too. Think about it, if your QB has 60 Strength like so many do these days, and he's set to bullet style passing to prevent INTs, and your WR runs a 10 yard route, his hands are going to get blown up unless they're really strong.
