Alright guys, now that 5 weeks are done teams are starting to show their true identities, so lets recap what happened this week.
Chicago vs.Minnesota 77-6
HBB vs. PTP 24-17
Thunder vs. Montana 72-7
Long Beach vs. Dallas 66-9
Aurora vs. Palmetto 50-17
Slugs vs. Birmingham 30-6
Houston vs. Virginia GW's 48-31
Mighty vs. Lakewood 120-0
The Elite 4:
Possum Trot Plague: A tough loss to the Beach Boys handed the Plague their first loss, but that does not change their position in the Elite 4. For now they still have shown themselves to be a very good team and the rest of the league needs to take them seriously.
Honolulu Beach Boys: The Beach Boys once again took care of the Plague. By keeping their undefeated season alive, they keep themselves atop the targets in the league along with the Thunder. Will either team lose before week 15? We will find out. But I wouldnt put any money on HBB losing tommorrow thats for sure.
Timpanagos Thunder: Dismantling the Crow is hardly a feat for the Thunder, but faced with a weaker opponent they did exactly what they are expected to do, win big. The Thunder face a 4-1 team in Aurora and will have a harder time continuing their undefeated streak this week than HBB will.
Long Beach Dub-Allstars: The Allstars continued to prove they are a top team by dismantling a Dallas team that finds itself falling fast. The Allstars face a Virginia team this week that should provide a slighly bigger challenge than the Hitmen did. I expect the top 4 to remain exactly as is at least for one more week.
Contenders:
Mighty Chihuahuas: The Chihuahuas really flexed their muscle in the battle at Lakewood lol 120-0. But hey, thats all you can do and as long as you dont play a close game that makes me think otherwise when you play Lakewood, Montana, or Palmetto, then you did what you were supposed to against those type of teams.
Aurora Seminoles: Im going to move The Seminoles up into the contenders area. They have completed their tour of the bottom dwellers and have come out unscathed. Don't let me down Seminoles...your on a short leash.
Eugene Slugs: With a 30-6 trouncing of the Bears, the Slugs have proven that they didnt go away and forget to set their tactics for the weekend. I wasnt sure WTF was going on with the Slugs after the last few games but at 3-2 all is well again for the Powerhouse that is the Slugs. I expect them to rapidly climb this list and once again reclaim their spot amongst the Elite while running the Table to end 14-2. Thats right Folks you heard it here...SLUGS WIN! SLUGS WIN! SLUGS WIN!
Muddled Middle
Chicago Inferno: Chicagoe is moving in the right direction and if the playoffs started today, would hold the 8th and final playoff seed. They are involved in a tough race for those last few playoff spots, but they are in the position you want to be in, ahead of the other teams fighting. If Chicago can keep playing like they have recently they should definately make the playoffs.
Virginia George Washingtons: A crushing loss for the GW's has to have them wondering if they are actually ready to compete this season or if their hot start was just due to low level opponents. The Toxins have a good roster and were due to pull off a win so don't take the loss too tough as it wasnt to a bad team, but I still think the GW's are a ways away from being a playoff caliber team.
Birmingham Bears: Oh how the Bears confuse the shit out of me. Another tough loss to the Slugs is not something to be ashamed of, but 30-6 was not the outcome I had expected. The Bears are stumbling and they need to right the ship quick before the damage is fatal.
Houston Toxins: Houston finally pulled it off. A solid win. Leaving no chance for a 2 pt loss this week, they won by 17. Their next game versus the Plague will be an excellent chance for them to sneak out one of those close wins and put the league on notice but its going to be a hell of a challenge to accomplish.
Fading Fast
Dallas Hitmen: I am shocked by the Hitmen's record. I had much higher expectations from them this season and so far it just hasn't been clicking for them. They need to turn it on now or it will be too little too late.
Montana Crow: The Crow are playing Chicago today and if they have any hope of moving up into the contenders area, they are going to have to start pulling off some upsets. Today is as good a day as any to start.
The Bottom Feeders:
Palmetto Bugs: As the owner said " when you live in a trailer, Ramen noodles is a steak dinner" but hey, I expect that from Kevin Federline. Make sure to buy the beef flavor.
Minnesota Mountain Lions: Has anyone actually ever seen a player from the Mountain Lions on the forum? Do they actually exist? Im starting to think they are the GLB equivalent to Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, and the Abominable Snowman in the fact that the system says they are there, but no one can ever seem to find them, and Im sure they feel the same way about wins.
Lakewood Lancers: Same old story
Matchup of the Week:
Aurora vs. Thunder
The Seminoles are getting their baptism by fire. They have steamrolled the Bottom Feeders and eeked past one of the "fading fast" teams so why not jump right into the elite. They have two options: 1. Shock the world, 2. Run and cover. The teams are 5-0 and 4-1 and if the Seminoles pull it off they have earned my respect but short of the upset potential and win loss records, I didnt have a whole lot to pick from so this is the game of the week even though I expect a massacre.
