Hey Guys, I've been asked to give out my spreadsheet so that you all can get some rankings here in the best of the BBB leagues. It's not quite ready for public consumption, as I'm still finding things that the new excel breaks...but I will run the rankings myself. I kinda feel like I owe you guys the rankings since last season they died.
Well, I have a whole new ranking system for this season. Here's a brief description of it....

Well, I've revamped the rankings, and calculated a final ranking for last season (mostly, some of the team name changes have made calculating the recent game aspect a pain in the ass, so I'm not dealing with those until the season actually starts), but this gives us the meat of the rankings.
The rankings this year are greatly simplified, and mainly based on two stats.
1) Per Game Success Factor
2) Quality Opponents
The Per Game Success Factor is loosly based on the DVOA stat published by The Football Outsiders: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/
where a team gets points per play bases on how well they move the football. Up to 1 point per play, with bonuses for TD's, FG's, long plays, and moving the ball inside the red zone. This value is calculated for both teams in a game, and the value used is the difference between the two teams. As an example, we'll look at the week 1 game between the Hobbs Gerbil Wranglers and the Washington Blitz.
Hobbs "wrangled" a Success Factor score of 52.58
The Blitz racked up a Success Factor score of 24.56
Hobbs then came out of the game with a Success factor of 31.86, while the Arsenal ended with a Factor of -31.86.
The Success Factor presented here tonight is a season long cumulative value (regular season only). FWIW Last season in USA #2, King Donalt had a score of -1222.36, while, the highest was WindyCity with 601.09.
The second factor is a Quality Opponent Factor. This is simpler to explain. If you beat a team, you get 1 point for every win they have, if you lose to a team, you get -1 point for every loss they have.
Each of these factors is scaled from 0-100 and added to get the final score, which is then ranked. So If a team was best in both categories, they'd have a Final Score of 200 points.
As the season progresses, the scores will change a bit, as I am planning on adding a few more points based on the most recent 4 games (to reflect teams that are hot or not), but it will be pretty similar to this.
No ST rankings, no defensive rankings, no Offensive rankings (although I'm sure some of you will call these rankings offensive...Zing!!). Everything is wrapped up in one nice little package with the Success Factor.
And here are the Rankings!
