Saying that the teams that came up this season are not as good as the ones that came up last season is like saying 10 is better than 9.9 or 10.1.
I think that Scotch will always be a problem to defend because the WR builds there are really good, Lafayette is a good team, I gave them a hard time proportional to their entrance, but I know that Prague will also be lucky to beat them.
I see all 4 teams that came up the last 2 years as some of the strongest, if not THE strongest teams in their conferences, so I have no idea what you are talking about. This is particularly true in Alpha, right now the top 4 teams are so:

I dont see that as much weaker to me, I see that as a coinflip.
In Zeta Prague beat Scotch due to bad tactics by Malachorn 100%, that is the only reason we won, otherwise they kicked our ass and they probably should have had 10 more points than us and would have only been the 2nd team to score 20 on us since Season 1.
