Retire and remake him, then save your skill points until you get out of the D-leagues... training skills on intense for a season. Once you get to level 7 or 8 (whatever the cut-off for the D-league is), then you spend your points...

Send me a PM when you're close, with how many points you will have and your stats after training for a whole season. This method should give you an extra level or two worth of points.

If you aren't willing to do that, strength and blocking are very important (I'd focus on strength over blocking as my primary stat). Speed and vision are pivotal as well. You can get by with ~30 stamina to play a full game on hard with some rests during the game. Carrying is only important if you actually get some carries. Agility is up there with speed and vision (but you can get by without a ton of it, until you soft cap your primary abilities). Confidence is helpful as well, I never spent a point on it, but I trained, off and on for the past couple of seasons on it.

Special abilities are a whole nother story... you can't really go wrong if you stick to blocking specials and don't spend more than 1 or 2 points into them per level (on average).

I hate slow build n00bs, there is no reason you should not spend your skill points just because. This guy is leading you down a dead end. You want your guy PRO BUILT, not slow built. These slow builders really don't have a grip on the mechanics of the leveling system. You want to combine daily training and level bonuses above soft caps to get the absolute most out of each and every skill point. It's not hard to do once you figure it out, but these guys haven't.

1) Re-roll your guy and spend no SP's.
2) Train STR to 25 (might take 4-5 levels) and then take it up to 48.
3) Start training BLK to 25 and then take it up to 48. (take another 4 levels or so)
4) decide if you want to be a running or blocking FB and get back to me.

My basic rule is to NEVER EVER spend a skill point on a stat under 25 and always take them to the soft cap.

My only suggestion to all of this is make sure that you have enough speed so you can give your HB a block or two down the field.....there is nothing worse then having your HB run into you.....

Cause your stats in the D-League are huge and all...

Also, we basically gave the same advice, except I told him to wait until he's out of the D-Leagues before spending points. While you say spend our points while in the D-League. I also said to PM me, when he's done that, to help him spend his points...

As for #4 on your list... finding a team that will indulge your build is kind of important. It'll somewhat influence your build, depending on how you're used. I started as a blocking FB and have worked my way to being good for 13-14 carries a game. I'm a newb though, considering that I had the most rushing yards and the most pancakes, out of all the FBs in BBB#14 last season (and no we didn't have any 100+ pt victories to pad stats either, our most lop-side game was 51-0).

D-Leagues are CPU controlled ones. To me, they exist to help new players catch up before they're expected to be a contributor. They're also so that the player can earn cash and some exp. Roughly like the newbie area in most MMOs, a safe place to learn about the game, without the pressure of people ripping you for playing poorly.

Basically, I was looking long term for your player. To help you gain the most bang for your buck, so to speak. First off, what/where is your equipment? Secondly, what does your special ability trees look like? Thirdly, are you a starter or back-up? Lastly, Do you want to be built as a blocker (OL in the backfield), a rushing FB (basically the equivalent to a power HB) or somewhere in between (like my FB, whose more of a blocker, but can run decently enough to be a threat).

Certain stats/skills become more or less important, depending on which way you decide. Overall you want to be efficient to get the most production, yet also keep in mind later on when your player reaches their peak. So stats like strength are key, because it affects, both rushing and blocking. Speed and vision are like strength, in that they help both aspects of a FB's game. Agility is more suited to a runner, but it does help blocking a bit. Stamina is very important to a certain point, but once you find the "sweet spot", it's not important at all. Carrying is only important to a runner, if you don't get more than a couple carries a game, don't bother raising it past 20 at the moment. Confidence is helpful as well, it will help prevent a bad play from ruining the rest of your game (like a fumble or a missed block). Blocking is important, but it doesn't have to be super high, since you'll generally be going against LBs and SSs or double teaming DL.

Right now it appears this game is all about min/max early on, then eventually leveling off into something a bit more balanced. Although there are some builds out there that exploit poor design in the sim.
