We had a few 4th down conversions attempted in our game as well that left me scratching my head. In particular was a play where Miami had 4th & 3.5 at our 31 and went for it instead of kicking a FG. It was the 1st quarter and they were already up 7-0.

Maybe they've tweaked kicking to the point that 45+ yard bombs are no longer automatic for a decent kicker. Call it the Chicks Dig The Long Ball effect.

Of course, they also went for it early in the 4th from our 1.5 with a 21-3 lead. At least in a goalline situation it makes a little more sense.

As for drops & misses, our TE dropped 3 passes even with a decent catch rating, while we missed 27 tackles as a team. Granted we aren't a defensive powerhouse, but geez!

They have toned down kicking. That much is confirmed.

Bort has also tweaked the catching mechanics a little, after all the issues with tons and tons of drops. Supposedly now, the upside/downside of high or low catching, along with agility, vision and speed in the catching mechanics is that people with low catching will need to stop and adjust to the ball or the like and have to re-accelerate. People with higher catching will have an easier time catching it in stride and keeping going instead of everyone dropping the ball so often.

I wonder if that means carrying is going to help running backs keep stride when breaking tackles?

jblaze, i'm sure new game code had something to do with it. But also keep in mind that we led the league every year in breaking tackles.

no doubt nike-joe, you guys some nice RBs for sure. but i know our team don't miss THAT many tackles, even against teams like Wala Wala and Lima. Judging by the threads out there, there is some issues with the amount of missed tackles in the sim right now (amongst other things).

I still liked the one where we ran the ball on 4th and 13.5 yards...

Yeah, that was classic.

So, WHY did you do that? I had in a new slate of advanced O AI tactics. Worked pretty good from what I can tell.

I accidentally set 3-4 instead of 4-3 for some of my defensive tactics. I must say... 3-4 sucks most of the time. It's alright sometimes because of shitty offensive line vision/agility and how they all just bomb the NT and LB's run free at the ball carrier.

We aren't entirely sure why we punted the entire game...we had a Punt output included in the AI. It wasn't the first one shown, but it was definately in there. We moved it to the very top for Game 2 and punted fine.

As for why the sim decided to run up the gut on 4th and 13? Clueless.

Good times! Maybe we'll just forget them and let the sim take over play calling duties...

I really hope this is a function of early D-League jitters and not a huge flaw in the new code. My L1 DE's game tonight featured 4 KO return for TD and 1 punt return for TD. But it's worse than that. The first 3 plays of the game were all KO TDs.

PLEASE be a function of too many crappy, low level CPUs on kick coverage ...
