So what would you guys prefer (steps wise) for level 1 slow building SS to be good at around level 8-13+

Really interested, PM me if you can, because I might lose this thread due to me not being able to play that often.

I'm slow building 2 CBs, but my first player was a SS. So I know abit about SS and slow building.

First, never place SPs until a skill is at least 22. So you need speed, agility and vision all up to the soft cap ASAP, but ASAP is slow. With my CBs, I just grew the highest skill to 23, then added 25. With 1 guy it was speed, the other it was agility. Then began working on the next skill. In 1 season, I've almost soft capped speed and agility with 1 guy and will only have spent 50 skill points to do it. He's lvl 11 now.
The one thing to remember is to periodically train up stamina too. You don't need 80 plays and playing on relaxed will help keep energy a bit higher. You mostly want to get MOST of your daily exp and don't worry about getting all of it. So train stamina for a day or 2 every level or so, depending on where you started. Both my CBs get plenty of time in DLeague and neither has 20 stamina yet. SS could be different, so you'll have to watch energy and PT as you go.

You will not be able to worry about jump, catch or similar secondary skills at this point. Your guy WILL have flaws, but in 1.5 seasons from creation, he should be pretty solid on the 3 main skills and you can work on the others. Its a tough game to keep him in the money and not offend the owner of a team. So Dleague is OK. I got both 10 day contracts towards the end of last season to help with money. But rememberr the last time you can join the Dleague is at end of lvl 7. And you are booted out by lvl 13 I think. Money will be an issue however and you'll likely have to make a move.

SS is a tough position to slow build, cause he'll need alot of skills to be good. Good luck

this is the suggested stamina for safeties:

Level 01 - 20
Level 02 - 25
Level 05 - 28
Level 10 - 31
Level 15 - 34
Level 20 - 36

can anyone attest to this being true? i just made a ss at the end of last season (so with the boost now he's L4), and i'm more concerned with a ss's stamina needs once he gets to the teens (or, where i'll need him to be by the end of the season)...

any and all input to be greatly appreciated.

strongly disagree aggiebones. never work on one attribute alone, then move to the next one, then move to the next one, etc if you want anything close to an adequate build before level 20. i can see your logic though if you just don't care early on, and use training to get the maximum amount out of a skill before throwing points into it

earlier i didn't quite understand what you meant by slow building, kretchfoop, so sorry for giving bad advice

Meh.
A bigger curve.
So what i'm saying is it should end around 36-40, but it should start at level 1 around 18ish.

That's if you'll start your whole way up. I'd say about 5-10 points less if you're a backup.

lol fellas big mistake if you are looking for big numbers early on, but alright

y?

because agility is becoming much more important this upcoming season, now there is a direct correlation between that and speed. you must have agility to make speed usable. agility is acceleration and changing direction, speed is just speed... used maybe 5 times max a game for a SS to chase down a WR. it's not worth it

Speed still kills. This is my FS that I am slow building. His speed is 59 with equipment and his agility is at 15. It takes him a while to get where he wants to go but once he is going, whoosh.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=120747&pbp_id=942518. He is at SS in that play
