On this day July 25 2008, Spedro Gonzalez, owner of the Brooklyn Brawlers, moves the team to Key West Florida. Without any sort of public announcement, Gonzalez hired movers to pack up the team’s offices in Brooklyn, NY in the middle of the night, while the city slept.
The Brawlers were welcomed the next day by throngs of Key West fans that were hungry for a team of their own. The crowd stood silent as the owner addressed them..
"Ladies and Gentlemen of the beautiful city of Key West. I give you the Corsairs!"
A mighty cheer erupted and the people of Key West celebrated the entire day drinking free Margaritas served at the new Southernmost Point Stadium.
