I think it shows how people are really over-reacting with level caps and sportsmanship penalties, etc. It isn't taking long at all for the best teams to advance to the higher levels.

I like the idea of setting limits to the levels of players certain leagues can hire. These limits should be set pyramid style, and should ONLY affect trades, or new hires, NOT people on the team. That keeps the pyramid structure of the leagues like Bort originally set up, and really doesn't limit people in building. What it does do though is stop Joe Schmoe from bringing in a few ringers from another team a "Friend" owns in East Timbuktu, and give the teams that have been in the conference a while the chance to be promoted.

Everyone on Crimson, and many of our opponents were home grown during the initial season. The only problem with the promotions is that last year there were maybe 5 or 6 teams that easily should have been promoted. This year I can see right around the same number. The idea of losing one team a season makes for a very long trip through the stages.

The teams that need to replace players would have no shot if players already on the team are not affected. If they can't hire anyone to the level of their competition and they are getting stomped, it won't work out. It needs to affect all teams equally. The level should be set by how high someone could get if they started with the team.

Another idea, which might break apart teams, is to set "year" limits on players. Give each player an "age" associated with when they were created. Players created on S1 D39 would be 2 years old today. You could do something like this:

Pro teams: No limits
AAA teams: No players over 8 years old
AA teams: No players over 6 years old
A teams: No players over 4 years old
BBB teams: No players over 2 years old

These numbers are just thrown out and wouldn't have to be the ones used.

Yeah I know its not his concern, but you are going to end up with the leagues meaning nothing. You are going to hvae a mix of crappy and good teams in the same divisions all the way to the top.
