San Jose… Two costly red zone interceptions and a steady Little Haiti offense was too much for the San Jose Chupacabra to overcome as they fell in their first ever playoff appearance, 14-9.
“We had a good game plan and the boys battled for every yard,” said owner K9Fiend, “Little Haiti just executed a little better and they made the plays when they needed to”
Twice, San Jose appeared poised for touchdowns inside the Voodoo 20 yard line. Both times, however, Voodoo cornerback Chevis Jackson stepped in front of Remo Rankin passes to end the drives.
Conversely, the Voodoo offense made the plays when it counted. Although the stingy Chupacabra defence repeatedly held the Voodoo to three and outs, Little Haiti made the best of their visits to the red zone, recording two touchdowns on three trips inside the 20.
“Their offense is no joke and Big Nicky is one of the best QBs in the league. We contained him but stopping him completely….well, that’s more than what we had in us today,” said defensive end Peter Layutuyah.
The Voodoo now travel to Oklahoma City to face the league leading Spartans, the western conference champions.
In other western conference action;
The Florida Bulls upset the favoured Over the Rhine Red Dots, 30-10.
The LA Reign triumphed in a close match against South Otto 20-15.
The OKC Spartans demolished eighth seeded Reno, 58-3.
