The formula is record, then head to head record, then points score. If there are numerous teams with the same record that have all beaten each other, then it is points scored. At least that is what it was last season.

I think the miscalculation for most is that when they see more than 3 teams in a tie they immediately move to points scored, when that isnt how it works.
For head to head it actually forms a sub ranking and ranks those teams involved in the tie by wins/losses within the bunch. NHH missed out this time around because we had a 2-4 record within the sub ranking of 7 tied teams. It only defaults to points scored if the records within that sub-ranking are tied.
Hope that helps a little for anyone who didnt quite understand it.
