In the description, it says it helps catch up to the ball carrier with a boost of speed and acceleration. Does this only take effect only after the ball is caught on pass plays, or will I have good closing speed while the ball is in the air assuming my vision is very good?

It possibly does, hard to tell from how the view is moving with the ball in the air.
Don't think it does, only when they have the ball, because its a hard hitting ability not a coverage ability. And it says when he needs to close the gap to the ball carrier to catch him.

riggs it is different for a SS. it's in the hard hitting for a FS but for a SS it's in coverage
other than that, i've had a few plays that my SS has managed to rush to the intended receiver and knock the ball down (or level him before he can catch it), but i don't know if that is just agility/speed or what

I'm asking because I have my closing speed very high, and I think it may even be too high for my agility. I've noticed sometimes I overrun the ball carrier once closing speed kicks in because it's just too much. Because of this, I have been raising my agility higher and higher trying to accomodate for it, and have left my speed around 40. The only thing is now I can't defend the pass as well because I don't have the speed to keep up until after they catch the ball. So it's really whether I want to be overly speedy in pursuit of the ball, or be a better pass defender.
Since my last game, I added a lot of vision, and put some of my lvl 24 equipment towards it. I'll let you know if it seems to get my closing speed kicking in earlier, which would kill 2 birds with one stone. Since I'm usually in zone coverage, I can react to the ball quicker without being beat on passes, and I won't have to pump my speed to make me overpursue the ball carrier even more.

I guess another option would be just to get speed up really high so I don't even need to change direction before I get to the ball carrier lol. That would be ideal, but I wouldn't want to just put 15 points into speed at once after I boost without knowing the consequences. If it didn't work, it'd be disastrous.

how many pts do you have in closing speed because i was thinking of dumping some pts into it because when it does kick in it is pretty impressive but im also worried about wasting to many SP

AAh yes the great Lamar Odom from the Arsenal.
He used to be in my league (BBB3).
It's funny, you named your player after a forward on the Lakers, I named my dude after a forward on the Warriors. I'm thinking about creating a guy and naming him Ronny Turiaf now that he's ours for 4 years.
As far as your build -- I too have been playing around with agility and have seen direct effects of it. It could be the case that the SA is over evaluating the chasing down of the runner, so maybe with a quicker agility, it'll cut down that angle.
And the speed thing would be disastrous, seeing how bort's gonna make it less valuable for next season.

Eh, thats because SS are mostly zone coverage, and they cover backs a lot so they need the closing speed to take out the back as he catches out of the backfield. SS position isn't really known for their coverage abilities.

Wait Ronny went to the Warriors? Noooooooo!
He's a great teammate and will always make you laugh...I guarantee that. I wish he re-signed with us. He's a VERY hard worker and improved his game a lot. Plus he brings unmatched energy to the floor.
Anyways the thing is my speed isn't very high at all...that's the problem. My CLOSING speed is too high, but my regular speed isn't. If I were to get my regular speed higher, I think it'd make my closing speed even more ridiculous.

What's your speed?
My boy's at 52. But I haven't put any more than two SPs into Closing Speed, really no need in the team I am in.

What happens is that the FS/SS is closing so fast that can't 'see' where the ball is and overshoots the play. The higher your VIS, the less likelihood of your guy losing sight of the ballcarrier...

Okay that's what I thought. I added some points into vision, and some equipment points as well since I got up to lvl 24 after last game. I'll let you guys know if it worked.

Well I didn't even get any tackles today, but I guess that's a good thing. I got 2 PDs, and that's all. I'm playing a much tougher team in the next game though, so I'll probably have to make some tackles. I'll see how I do against them.

I havent put any skills into the closing speed SA although I have been thinking about it. I noticed that when my agi and vision caught up to my speed I was able to start making better plays. I rarely over run the ball carrier and tend to blow by the defence on kick returns to get the runner. I almost think that Closing Speed would be good if your really out classed by a WR in speed. However if you are even close with good agi and vision I think you will still be fine.
