rational people can disagree on this topic but for me in this current iteration of the meta, i'm a "no". there is a valid argument for "yes", namely the scores can get so tight sometimes, one ST play can legitimately change a win to a loss and vice versa

for example, look at this box score from the tourney trophy game: https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/game.pl?game_id=92088

this game going by the box score alone should have been a bit more of a blowout i think, 8 sacks vs 4, 310 yards vs 121, 37 mins possession vs 22. but i only won by 14 and part of that is due to the massive st edge i gave up that included a return td against. so big plays matter a lot in tight games

buuuut that being said, you have to know what you want your team to do. i built last years team on a meta that was what...20+ seasons old? and pre-dotpocalypse so builds only went to lvl 13, 16 if boosted and i didn't have the vpb so i botched a lot of things along the way. so pick a team identity and find out how you'd want to play. then build out your roster. do you need an extra WR or can you sacrifice one for a STOP? Same with safety/linebacker/lineman etc. last season i only had 4 safeties and i found them tired af at the end of the game. But i like playing with safeties on defense and i misjudged the amount of passing in this meta. So i'm using 6 this season. i'd rather have those two extra dots for defense then special teams. but that's me.

i think if you can spare a dot for a returner that would be the first place i'd go. i'm quasi doing that this year with my WR6.

i also think a lot of dots if built correctly can naturally function well enough on ST to be passable

back in the day there used to be a saying the vets used when asked about stops and the was depth over stops. your team benefits far more from having depth at positions than having designated special teams only players
