I know this has been answered thousands of time, but I can't find the thread (or specific wording), so hoping someone here can help me out.

I have created some D40 dots...all level 1 right now. Should I boost to 4 prior to rollover, or wait until the end of next season, due to the ALG's and whatnot?

Sorry...it's been so long since I've had fun and can't remember crap.

Thanks

some good info for a build plan

Jdbollick build plan
Basic build plan for any .5 ALG dot
If going strength first then pick one pound below the maximum. If picking speed first then pick one pound above the minimum. Enhance the first attribute to 10%, train intense three times, enhance to 20%, then train intense until you have a nearly full bar at 32.9x without equipment on Day 48. Convert 15 bonus tokens to a skill point and cap to 48.9x. Then boost. Next season you'll enhance to 30% and normal train, then second cap, then continue normal training, then third cap. At that point you'll unlock and enhance your attributes for multi-training. Unlock the first, second, and third attributes you plan to cap and enhance all to 30% when possible. Use the free first slot to rotate any other attributes you plan to cap eventually, enhancing each to 10%. Continue multi-training until the first attribute reaches anywhere between 90 and 100 depending upon your build plan. Skill points should be spent in the first attribute until it reaches between 73 and 85 depending upon your build plan and how many attributes you eventually need to increase.

That's designed to get the first attribute up as quickly as possible to accumulate ALGs. You do the weight trick so that you're just under the .97 decimal for the third cap at level 7, otherwise you end up wasting two ALGs and there was no point in racing up that fast anyway. For 0.4 ALG dots I haven't figured out anything quite so simple, but in general you should probably pick max or min weight and then go to multi-training right after the second cap. 0.67 ALG dots don't need to worry about weight either and shouldn't unlock the first attribute but should push it really hard in the beginning.

Thank you both for the information. Bluesman gets extra credit and I'm pinning this in my private forum. Many thanks!

Day zero hasn't happened yet this season, we're on day -7 in the weird GLB counting method. You probably made new dots between day 40-48 of LAST season, and boosted before the end of day 48, so yeah, in GLB world we're now in the preseason of the next season, so you have 3 boosts to use any time this season before day 48 again.

One quick way to know who has boosts left is to go to 'Boost Players' sub-tab, on the "My Players" line after 'Quick Utility Editor' and 'Create New Player'. It'll show all your dots and any boosts they might have remaining. FYI, the 'Quick Tactics Editor' is handy to set all your tactics (offense, defense, and ST's) for all your dots and an easy to set your Offensive dots to 'Wrap Up Tackle' and your Defensive dots to 'Run Block'. Can ever set returner depth just in case your dots ever get called to fill in at Returner. (And QB Tactics if you think your HB might throw a pass someday!)

Should I boost them? From 4 to 7

nope. Boost them when they reach lvl 16 after D40 (you have time until D48) to maximize training gains.

What about 2nd season?

Does below still apply?

Season 2 - boost any time between day -8 and day 10. Make sure to boost by day 10 so that you reach level 25 and start earning VXP faster.

What if I just boosted 2 or 3 stats now and used training to boost stats that I didnt put SP's into?

In a dots 1st season, the ONLY reason you should boost early is if you get caught in between. What I mean is this (example); Your dot is at 90% in training. The next train will take him up another skill level. However, your dot is also almost about to gain another overall level (say from level 5 to level 6). If you continue to train your dot will go past the next skill level then the game sims and your dot gains ALG's and passes the cap. Not good. SO I would switch to light training... likely Stamina... until the dot levels up. Cap the skill, then go back to training. Now factor in a boost as well. Dot, again, is at 90% in training. A boost would put him just below the cap. And his next level boost is a ways off in the distance. If I continue to train, I'll train past the cap. Not good. And I don't have the SP's to cap the skill yet. Not good. So, THEN, I would go ahead and boost... cap the skill... and keep rolling along. NOTE! This VERY seldom ever happens so you generally don't have to worry about it. It's good to know the caps and your ALG's.
