Is there a list of preferred SA's for each position? When either building an AEQ piece or rolling for one, I want to make sure I'm making the best choices.

Since my team will start rolling for pieces next season, I want to be able to point them in the right direction.

Man... I KNOW I worked with someone(s) on this very thing... out there... somewhere. But I can't find it. I did find this while looking though and will paste it below. It's the best one I've seen so far (besides the one I can't find );

VA's - 3rd Down Stopper, Long Reach, Towering man (if DL), Clutch, Prime Time Player, Red zone Freak, High Jumper

Interception Stacks

SA's - Sticky Hands, Jumping Catch (:worried, (help me out with this one guys, any other SA's that directly stack with intercept pieces???)

VA's - High Jumper, Soft Hands, Prime Time player, Red zone Freak

Fake Stacks

(Fake % boosts the chance of SA's your dot needs to have in order for this AEQ % to do anything)
-Juke, Head Fake, Catch fake, Pump Fake

SA's - Open Field fake will stack with Fake %

VA's - Quick Feet, Short Yardage Monster, Clever Insttincts (would be awesome if you created your dot on day 1, would miss some XP and a lot of training, but could be saved and the boost to faking would be amazing, and by the time you got to day 440 your dot should be caught up), Goal Line Back, Steady Grip, Quick, Football Genius, Clutch, Red Zone Freak

Not Fumble Stacks

SA's - Cover up, (all break tackle SA's directly boost not fumble roll because if they fire they still increase your avoid tackle score which means the defender will have to have a higher tackle quality to force a fumble than they would if an SA didn't fire),

VA's - Return Man, Goal Line Back, Mr. Reliable, Comeback Kid, Clutch, Red Zone Freak, Steady Grip, Workout Warrior, Quick.
Break Tackle Stacks

SA's - Power Through, Spin, Lower the Shoulder, Hurdle, Stiff Arm, Return Specialist,

VA's - Short Yardage Monster, Bruiser, YAC Attack, Slippery, Goal Line Back, Quick Feet, Scrambler (:rofl, Red Zone Freak, Steady Grip, Workout Warrior, Quick, Return Man, Clutch.

Avoid Fake Stacks

SA's - Superior Vision, Zone Focus.

VA's - Football Genius, Quick, Red Zone Freak, Goal Line Stand, Clutch

Pass Quality

SA's - On the Run, Dump Pass, Pocket Presence, Tight Spiral

VA's - Clock Manager, Quick Release, Laser Arm, Football Genius, Swagger, Clutch, Red Zone Freak

Pass Distance

SA's - None (as far as i can tell).

VA's - Hail Mary, Workout Warrior, Laser Arm, Swagger, Clutch

Hold Block

SA's - Run Block, Pass Block, Lead Block, Strong Arm, Pancake, Foundation, Get Low.

VA's - DownField Blocker, Goal line Blocker, Pass Blocker, Outside Blocker, Great Blocker, Workout Warrior, Quick, Red Zone Freak, Clutch, Stonewall,

Once again these are just things that can be stacked with hold block %, obviously you need more to be an effective blocker, but these stacks all boost the hold block roll and will work with each other.

One thing to note is that all VA Stacks are capped at 75%, so once you get to 75% any extra point in VA's that stack will no longer add any more % to the roll.

Rushing the Pass

SA's - Blitz, Tunnel Vision, Disguise Blitz, First Step, Quick Cut, Glare

VA's - Bull rusher, PAss rusher, Fearsome, pocket crusher (conditions apply), Bull rusher

I'd like to note that generally if you are a 3 AE dot, you have 3 AE and 1 CE so 4 special equipment pieces. If a 4 AE dot you have 5 special equipment pieces.

Any dot you want to be WL quality should have at an absolute bare minimum 3 special equipment pieces in +%. Most will want to use 4-5, but it varies some by position. All +% AE should be +5% base if possible.

Theo - just to nitpick because I'm a weirdo...

Dots can "fake" without an SA, just like they can "break a tackle" without an SA. It's pretty rare at high levels though and you only really see it on dots with open field fake, but when the defender illogically "misses" the offensive player or keeps running in a direction, it's because they lost a "base fake" roll. Only applies with the ball in your hands though, so there's no base pump fake or catch fake type thing without the SA.

Clutch technically can be listed everywhere (or nowhere) on your list. Kind of weird its only listed in some spots.

Hold block battle rolls are also effected by positioning, so things like Protect, or speed, indirectly help you hold blocks (especially while pass blocking)

Oh, yeah. I know. This was something I found, created by someone else who knows how long ago... but it's relevant at least to the OP's query. I was one of several people who worked on trying to create a 'SA Guide' ourselves and I remember it was pretty dang good... but I can't find it anywhere. I KNEW I should've saved the link!

So, you are saying that instead of choosing an SA for the Bonus Ability, it is better to choose the +5% for the Bonus Ability for all pieces of AEQ?

If you're holding onto that pipe dream of playing in world league. Fwiw, unless you're already on a world league farm team, you won't be playing in world league.

Pick some good impactful SAs and enjoy your dots, while you perfect the build process. Otherwise you'll more than likely get bored and quit.

The world league or die mentality has done more damage to the population of this game than any other single factor.

The first 6 seasons of your dot's life can be way more interesting than the last 6.

Personally, I do go for the occasional SA over a % piece but, generally, only in very certain builds. I can give some examples....

Kicker; Unless you're making a whack kicker that runs like the wind and makes tackles, then there's not really any 5% pieces for them. So it's all SA's when I shop for AEQ for a kicker.

It's always the last SA on the SA tree and to push it to 10 it's going to cost you a LOT of extra SP's to build the SA's in front of it up high enough... unless you get it in AEQ. Generally I do this when I build my 4th and final piece since it doesn't cost 75 BT's like a 5% whatever does. That, plus your CEQ tree, gives you a starting number of 7 in Pancake without spending a single SP. There are other dot builds out there where the last (or next to last) SA on the tree is so awesome and wanted... but it costs a lot of extra SP's to take it to 10 so it makes sense to have 1 piece of AEQ gear dedicated to that. Saves you a lot of SP's.

You still want % gear over SA gear... but there's nothing wrong with a SA AEQ piece if it fits the build and saves you SP's in the end. I would never get an AEQ piece with a SA that's early in the tree... but 4th or 5th in line? Yeah. And, sometimes, there's an SA in the >other< (non-preferred) tree that you really want/need. Then there's no sense in spending even MORE SP's in the lower SA's just to raise that up... along with the one's in your preferred tree... so then having one piece of AEQ dedicated to that SA makes sense.

I can give you 3 examples of such thinking.
Player A.) is a punter, level 79. No AEQ with 5% gear...He's got 2 AEQ in Big Boot, 1 in Hangtime, and 1 in Calm Nerves. SA bonuses are 18 CN, 12, HT, and 18 BB.
Player B.) is a lvl 79 Guard. AEQ is 2 5% Hold Block pieces, 1 Pancake piece, and one AOI piece. He's 8 in Pancake, 9 in Pummel and AOI, 7 in Hands, and 10 in run block.
Player C.) is a lvl 79 returner. AEQ is 1 5% fake piece, 1 5% not fumble, 1 Spin and 1 Juke SA piece. Ended with 10 in Spin, 10 in Juke, and 10 in Ret Specialist. He's doin fine.

So it's ok to get a SA piece... but make sure it gives you value more than just being a SA you want/need. Doing it for late SA tree SA's makes a LOT of sense because of the SP's it saves you. Doing it for the 1st or 2nd SA in the tree... not so much.

World League is always the goal, but it's not do or die for us. Most of the guys on my team are returning players that had left and been away from the game for a few years. Myself, I was gone for about 8 years, maybe more. We're trying to get back into it, and this is really our first go at it, so we want to try and give it the best we have while re-learning the game. We're just having fun now while we figure stuff out.

I don't disagree with anything Theo said specifically.

Generally at a minimum you want 15% AE + 12% CE in one thing (becomes 15% + 6% with diminishing returns = 21%) in one action at a minimum, and 15% in another action at a minimum. So that would generally be a minimum of 3 "special equipment" pieces.

The only time I personally like taking AE in a SA is if it's a SA that I want as a priority on the build, and then I'd have a target of 13+ (6+1+6), for things like Pancake or Juke or Power Thru that are the most important SA for my intended build.

I'd suggest the following as "Ideal" special% by position. Not all of this will be meta of course and I haven't built a dot since the middle ages. Just keep in mind +3% hold block, for example, effectively gives a 3% boost to ALL ATTRIBUTES INCLUDING EQUIPMENT for the purposes of the hold block roll.

Pass QB = Pass quality 15%+15%+12% = 25.5%. Pass distance = 15% (though I personally am OK with zero pass distance)

Elusive RB = Fake Chance 15% + 15% + 12% = 25.5%
Power RB = Break tackle 15% + 15% + 12% = 25.5%
Scat RB/FB (assuming has juke) = Catch Ball 15% + 12% = 21%, fake% 15% +15% = 22.5%. There's an argument here for only 15% cb% and 25.5% fake%, though no one does it.

Speed WR = Catch ball 15% + 15% = 22.5%, fake% = 15% + 12% = 21%. If 4AE I'd put the last AE in Juke to get it to 13-17. Honestly I think an argument can be made for 15% catch ball and 25.5% fake% if anyone made 164+ spd WR's, which they don't.

Poss WR = Catch ball 15% + 15% + 15%+ 12% = 27.75%. If 4AE I'd put last AE into sticky hands 13-17 given it's favored, and if in slot you get slot machine bonus too.

I really appreciate it WiSe. I used to have a guide way back when, but 8 years away from the game can cause a lot of things to disappear. Of course, I've also changed computers a few times since then, so it's probably all on one of my old computers. Old age doesn't help the memory much either..,lol.

Don't give up hope yet. Right now I have a bucket full of AI's for various levels and various attacking styles. They work... but they're a total BITCH to continually upgrade and keep fresh. What I've been working on (for several months now) is a different approach using what I've learned and some of what I've learned from other OC's I know and respect. I'm trying to get everything really condensed down into a better system where I can whip up a new AI for any situation with super ease and a LOT less time... as well as have a nice collection of different AI's based off a much better package system.
Seriously... my damn 'packages' list is longer than the Great Wall of China. I really gotta get everything better organized so it's easier for me to do things and takes less time and then I can handle doing a bit extra such as a 3rd OC job.

LOL....that sounds like my DC package list, and I still have more I want to add.
