*Alpha will change to overall once we get to the postseason
The first public edition of the Times will feature my take on the current Alpha postseason picture. Sorry Zeta, but Alpha needs to have something over you guys since we aren't allowed to have talent.
The playoff picture is starting to clear up in Alpha Pro...Here are the teams in the running...
War's Locks:
Dubrovnik, Sarajevo, Sheboygan, Barger Hill, NFL Fanatix
There are 10 teams in the hunt for the playoffs. 10 may be the magic number for a postseason bid. Dubrovnik, Sarajevo, and Sheboygen all have reached the 10-win plateau, while Barger Hill, at 9-2, still has a pair of cupcakes to play, meaning they will at least get to 11 wins. With wins over both 5-6 teams and two easy wins left on their schedule, the Fanatix should find 9 wins a playoff spot.
In amazing shape, but not set:
Gen. Patton's Demon Brigade
The only thing keeping the Demon Brigade from being a lock is that it is possible they can botch their position. Likely? No. They have the schedule to possibly miss the playoffs, if they really want to. They have a few games remaining that could give them trouble, including both the R.A.R. and the Tec-9s. But reasonably the Demon Brigade will make the postseason, probably as the 5th seed, even though NFL earned being a lock first.
Fighting for the final spots:
Washington, Minsk, St. Petersburg, Georgia
All of these teams still have to face each other, and as such anything can happen. Georgia and St. Petersburg play this week in a game to keep postseason hopes alive, and if Georgia wins, Keith Martin and his Koats all of will find themselves almost certainly return to the playoffs. This week could either clear up Washington's future, or make it very murky. Washington closes out their Alpha season with games against St. Petersburg and Georgia, but pulled a lucky Zeta opponent, and is the favorite for the 7th seed. But, as I said, anything can happen, and it should be a fun next few games in Alpha.
Seeding Prediction:
1) Dubrovnik
2) Sarajevo
3) Sheboygan
4) Barger Hill
5) Gen. Patton
6) NFL Fanatix
7) Washington
8) Minsk
I would like apologize to Kazan, who I personally think is one of the better teams in Alpha, but they just don't have enough time to pull enough to be in the playoff picture. Go out and prove me wrong!
Did you like my first edition? Praise, criticisms, comments on my rankings? Any and all comments are welcome!
Edit: If you guys want me to write a story on a specific team or matchup, please tell me so and I'll get to work on it!
