If I put players in the "KOS" and "KRS" slot on the depth chart and I have the different special teams slots filled out too, which players will the sim use?

The players I have specifically for the situation or the players I have in KOS and KRS?

I'm pretty sure it will use the specialty slots then take from the pool of players in the KOS and KRS pile to fill out any non-specified slots. It's something I've done at the beginning levels when dots are simply a one skill pony at that time. (Like filling in the Back wedge spots but nothing else.)

the kos and krs will only get used if you leave a gap in a position for example, a slot left completely blank, or the too common, players p1, p2, p3 are filled in for slots a1, s2, s3 in the following manner:

s1 = p1, p3
s2 = p2, p3
s3 = p1, p2,
as long as p3 plays either s1 or s2, you are fine, but if s1/p1, s2/p2, then there's no player available for s3, so the ai goes to the appropriate kos/krs and picks the top player. you can really get complicated and unpredictable when you throw in the energy settings for kos/krs.
