Ok... so it's highly unlikely that GLB 1 is going to grow anymore, at least huge enough to make this suggestion a moot point (although most suggestions are moot points at this time), but there might be a way to change the game and make it much more active with who remains.
My idea is to sell 'entire teams' instead of what we have now. How it works; Someone buys a team and then gathers agents to 'fund' the team with flex. How many agents is up to the team owner but each agent must contribute flex to the team until a preset amount is reached. This 'Team flex' is what is used to fill the roster with dots. Dots would be assigned to each contributor by the owner. People who contributed more would be assigned more dots. The dots themselves would not cost anything at all to build... all dot expenses are covered in the 'Team flex' (hence the need for a preset value.) The agents would be responsible for training and maintaining the dots they were assigned.
So it would look roughly like this;
Owner spends 2500 flex for original purchase of the team and 250 flex for each season's renewal.
The team flex bank must be filled to field a full team of 'human built dots' so the bank must have 55,000 flex (that 1,000 flex cost for each dot) to build a complete team.
Dot building itself would not change and dot cost would be done away with. High vs Low demand would be done away with. Refunds would be greatly reduced since you're getting a huge benefit of cost reduction for building dots and for owning teams. The reason for the large up-front cost for buying a team is to inspire commitment from the owner (since you get NO refund for the original purchase of the team). The smaller season-to-season renewal cost is to make ownership much more likely to be sustained. Also the season-to-season renewal cost is refundable (say 100 flex for each renewal). The flex the agents donate to the team gets a 1/2 refund once the team is either sold OR the team recycles (starts from scratch again).
These are just rough estimates and ideas so feel free to post better thoughts but the gist of it is a larger up-front cost, less refund, but a highly reduced cost for dots overall AND a lot less hassle about high/low demand and free agent markets would be history. Trades, however, would be highly improved since there'd be no FA's out there.
I guarantee you some will laugh... some will gripe and shoot it down... but some will have quality input about it. Things that would NOT change is dot build time or how they're built. One other good effect would be that, should someone suddenly decided to leave a team (for whatever reason), then the dots would remain. The cost is up-front so nothing lost. The person leaving the team would receive their 'refund' once the team is either sold or resets (Incentive to stick to a team when you commit to them.) but could sign with another team easily enough. (should some other team want them.)
