3 things go into making a great defense. First is a solid set of custom defensive plays. Second is a very good Defensive AI. And third is a great set of builds. I am sharring my defensive builds. But instead of showing you my ending builds, I am sharring my ideal builds, ie these are the builds I try to hit when my players hit level 15. I am usually a couple points off as it's hard to manage the ALG's to hit them exactly, but as long as you are in the ballpark, you should have a solid set of builds.

Before I share them, make note that these builds work within my defensive system and may not work for all systems. Also, these are my ideal builds, but I make no claims that they are the best builds out there.

Player roles:

DT's = I have 2 sets of DT's, one I use in running situations and one I use in passing situations, so their builds are respective of their roles.

DE's = while they are tailored more to anti-pass, I had to give them some anti-run ability, so they are more of a combo DE.

LB = I use my LB's to cover the HB/FB's as well as to cover the TE's, but only in rushing situations. They also provide run support, which is why I gave them a decent amount of strength.

SS/FS = I use the safeties mostly in zones as that is the best way I have found to stop outside runs. But the zones also help with WR1/WR2 coverage and provide over the top help to the HB/FB out of the backfield incase they beat the LB's.

CB = I have one use for these, man coverage on WR's & TE's(in passing situations).

Now for my IDEAL builds...

Your defensive front is what gives me fits. I've run the ball 40+ times at those DEs thinking they were speed and agility based builds but they never seem to miss any tackles and are able to keep pressure on the QB in passing situations. There may not be a solution to countering that defensive front for a non booster but I am proud to say that I only gave up 2 sacks in the conference championship game. Less than any team in the playoffs

I had my a$$ handed to me one season when I went with a pure speed/agility low strength DL, so wont ever do that again...

With 1st cap Strength, 32 Tackling, and 2 into Wall on my DE's, that seems to be enough to contain most inside rushing attacks. Plus with a good amount of Strength on my LB's, they provide a good 2nd tier run support incase the DE's get pushed back as they are actually stronger than my DE's due to equipment. Also, while I generally don't scout during the regular season, I do scout during the playoffs and that's mainly to help narrow down when I call anti-pass vs anti-run plays, which is why my defense gets better during the playoffs.

Weird thing is during the regular seasaon, it's the pass-DT's that get most of my sacks, but come playoff time, that switches to the DE's, and I don't know why. However, that works better for me as I tend to use my run-DT's more often in the playoffs, which help sure up my DL against inside runs.
